One of the other posters said it best (my apologies to them for not remembering who...)
What will Cheney be able to do that is hasn't already been able to do for the past 6 years?

Dick Cheney is by far the most competent VP we have had in a long time. If you recall (which I doubt you would because you are 'nervous' about him being in charge), Dick Cheney was known in political circles for being extremely competent and having a lot of integrity with an excellent record of public service.
He hasn't done anything to jeopardize this reputation except work in the private sector as an executive for Halliburton. Why that is evil, you'll have to ask the tree-huggers because he sold all of his stock in Halliburton before he accepted the nomination for VP. He has no vested interest in handing them contracts, or any of the other crap they've dreamed up to smear him. For that matter, Dick Cheney gives more in charitable donations every year than any other person in public office...so it's not like he's 'greedy'.
The reason the media and the Democrats hate Dick Cheney, is because he can intellectually run circles around him, and take all of their dumb, hair splitting questions and make them look stupid when he answers them. It pisses them off because the media believes that they are brilliant, and when someone points out otherwise, they're like a red-faced little boy on the playground who lost a fight.

Not really. It just makes the reality official. I can't imagine Bush ever stopping Cheney from doing whatever he wanted to.
Losing Bush changes nothing, except that Cheney is already less popular. Losing Cheney is a step in the right direction.
The worst thing for Bush about having Cheney for VP is that Bush has had to be his own Dan Quayle. Cheney is as serious as 4 heart attacks.

If Bush dies, Cheney would probably refuse the presidency, then Pelosi would refuse it. I bet you'd have to go through a long list of people before you find someone to try and undo what Bush has done.

It's just a colonoscopy. It's nothing.
Besides, Cheney would be a better leader than anyone who is running in 2008.

What would be the difference? At least the real decision maker of this country would be in the spot light.
