(x + 3)(x^4 - 4x^2 + 5) =
x^5 - 4x^3 + 5x + 3x^4 - 12 x^2 + 15 =
x^5 + 3x^4 - 4x^3 - 12x^2 + 5x + 15
No common terms, so this last is in simplest customary form.

(x+3)(x^4-4x^2+5) if this is the eq'n
x^5-4x^3+5x+3x^4-12x^2+15
x^5+3x^4-4x^3-12x^2+5x+15...this is the expanded for of the equation...
you multiply each term...first you multiply x4-4x2+5 by x and then multiply x4-4x2+5 by 3 then add you will get the above answer...
the simplified work ...?

(x+3) (x^4 - 4x^2 + 5) (^2 - means raised to)
= x (x^4- 4x^2 + 5) + 3 (x^4 - 4x^2 + 5)
= x^5 - 4x^3 + 5x + 3x^4 - 12x^2 + 15

rearranging the powers in their descending order,

= x^5 + 3x^4 - 4x^3 - 12x^2 + 5x + 15

all the best

The answer is:

x^5 + 3x^4 - 4x³ - 12x² + 5x + 15

You just multiply or distribute (x + 3) to each of the terms of the second equation:

(x + 3) (x^4) will give you ------->>> x^5 + 3x^4
(x + 3) (-4x²) will give you ------->>> -4x³ - 12x²
(x + 3) (5) will give you ---------->>> 5x + 15
