are you old goth (80s stuff, with bauhaus, etc) or nu-goth (listens to nu-metal bands like slipknot and/or stuff like marilyn manson). cuz nu-goth s*cks, while old goth was original and interesting. and most of the nu-goths all look the same.
and acille1jo (below me, somewhere on here...) - 3 points - 1) black metal is not goth - compare gorgoroth to bauhaus and tell me they are the same. 2) bands like marduk and dark funeral may only pretend to be satanist, but they are also not good black metal. they are too involved with the image, and not concerned enough with making good music. 3) many black metal bands aren't pretending, they actually are satanists - but most satanists don't believe in the devil. most of them are atheists seeking only to mock the christian church. many others are pagan, and write pagan themed lyrics, so bands like dark funeral and marduk are merely creating a stereotypical image of black metal which doesn't even fit all of the bands.
and yeah, NSBM does s*ck.

Goth isn't bad as long as it doesn't turn into a destructive thing. I like some Goth Rock. Most of the bands that I like
have now broken up, had a member die or they totally changed from where they started. The only things I don't like
is when people try to make goth an Aryan thing. ( I.E. " N.S".
black metal bands like Graveland and Kataxu) and when people start getting into Satanism. Ironically most of the black metal bands that dress up in black and wear make-up
don't even believe in a devil. They write all those evil over the
top lyrics in order to sell the idea of Satan. Oh yeah, and the burning churches thing is terrible. I won't touch those
bands either. Bard Faust, Count Grishnack, all those guys need to stay in jail. Some of the old viking metal is awesome though- Old Enslaved, Old Thyrfing, Finntroll, Einherjer, Unleashed all excellent stuff.
So in my opinion as long it just stays a show its ok. Try and take it any further though and then it starts to get dangerous.

The guys at Columbine weren't goth. Read up on the subject - they might have looked the part "from a distance" but they hated actual goths.
What's my feelings on goth? I was a goth - well, at times I still am.
Fave goth bands of this decade: Ghost Of Lemora, Uninvited Guest, Rome Burns, Cauda Pavonis...

I think it feels good and is very validating to do something that your parents disapprove of, and is seen as not normal, or unnatural. Now you will disagree, but that's why you do it. But unlike others I will tell you that's okay. You feel like you are expressing yourself, and that is positive. I think you guys got a bad rap after Columbine, those guys just happened to be Goth. There have been lots of murdering mailmen, but do you yell at your mailman, and fear him now when he comes around to bring your mail? No, because you realize that was just those mailmen that were murderous, not all of them. I had a lot of Goth friends in High School, though I wasn't one myself, and I think they were cool. They just needed to be different. That made them feel validated, and anything that makes you feel better, especially in High School, is an awesome thing.

I love all things Goth. I'm not into the heavy metal music at all. But I love all the dark clothing. It's so lavish. At least the darling girls in their black velvet skirs. So preferable to the barbie doll butt crack showing mini-skirts the "trendy" girls wear.
I'm Catholic. I think we are the original "goth subculture." You know. All those priests dressed in black. The original "memento mori" (remember death). Candles. Incense.
And what could be more Goth than the Capuchin Bone Chapel in Rome?

Wow, they're really nice! I would wear them with; A long plain top or minidress, something plain so it doesn't take the focus out of the leggings. V-neck would look nice with it, something more closed at the top just wouldn't look as good. As for shoes, I would suggest some kind of dolly shoe. If I saw someone wearing them, I would just think they have an awesome sense of style, haha.

well, theres girls running around with sculls on their shirts and then there s people who commit atrocious acts, and they are dressed in suits and ties. I think between the two is the latter that presents the real problem...
