around 500 mostly kids books

I would have to say over 3000. That's because I sell books on-line from my home. LOVE books! I did give away quite a few when I moved, but the collection has grown plenty since then. And as long as I'm selling, they'll keep multiplying. I've been checking out books I want to read at the library instead of buying lately.

It's not unusual for me to make purchases of 50 books at a time when I'm looking, and I may do that a few times a week.

Well, I own a small bookstore and have an obsession with buying books for myself! (Barnes & Noble LOVE ME) There's no way I could even count all of the books I own. I have nine tall bookshelves - to give you a rough estimate, about 1,000. I work with literacy programs to help kids and adults learn to read so that they will appreciate the written word ( and to realize that a book is like a little world in itself.) It's such a passion of mine that after I've read a book, I donate them to hospitals and prisons.

About 2 dozen to be read.
About 200 in the garage that I cannot bear to part with.
The others go to the charity shop, where I get most of my books.

I think tv is brain-warping because you do not have to think for yourself, whereas books, you can put your own interpretation on the author's words, and live the story.

I had to do a count recently because of an insurance premium. We have just over 5,500 books all round the house. We have all been reading for years and the number is increasing. We all read and read, and have no television.

I have no idea!
hundreds!

but I don't keep books, I like buying them, reading them, and then letting them circulate ... I wish some some of those books would return to my home, just because I have some emotional attachment to them, but I don't mind much not having them .. i never read a book twice ...

Presently, around 200 probably. I'm a bookworm. I would occassionally clear some off by giving them away to be sold at a jumble sales to raise funds for either the local church or to the thalassemia soceity.

Wish I had a house to put them in!!
The number doesn't matter for as Socrates once said: 'A multitude of books distracts the mind.'

Hmm... let's see... I have around 400, and my mom has 200-300, I think. Add the 100 or so that my dad & brother have.. and we have around 700-800 books in our house. =)
