If you are going to say that blacks are more likely to become incarcerated than whites, then is it only fair to state in the report how blacks are much more likely to commit crimes?

Blacks as a % of their population are much more likely to commit a crime than whites.

As an example, say that blacks are 10% of the population, but 30% of the criminals. These numbers are only for explanation and may or may not be true.

Then, blacks are 3 times more likely to be in jail simply because they commit more crimes per 100,000.

Where is this in the report? I cannot see it.

How about what types of crimes? Violent crimes are almost mandatory jail time, while petty crimes are generally not.

Is it any wonder why conservatives like myself do not pay attention to the press when they completely distort the story by leaving out relevant facts.

Fact: The leading cause of death for an African American male 14 to 25 is violence by the hands of another African American.

I feel this stat is NOT due to race but due to poverty though.

Such figures "reflect a failure of social and economic interventions to address crime effectively," as well as racial bias in the justice system, said Marc Mauer, the group's executive director.

Paul Stageberg, administrator of the Iowa Division of Criminal and Juvenile Justice Planning, said the results are not surprising, but the causes are subject to interpretation.

He said the state's disproportionately high black arrest rates are likely linked to high poverty rates among blacks and lower educational achievement.

Blacks are more likely to get pulled over, and charged with crimes, than whites. It's called racial profiling and it is rampant.
Most people in this country are aware that many Blacks don't have the financial backing to pay for an expensive attorney and get charges reduced or dropped.
I'm white and I just don't believe that Blacks are more criminal than Whites.

yeah like the fact the communities of color are often overpoliced more than white neighborhoods. And the fact that minorities typically get longer prison sentences than whites.

Such figures "reflect a failure of social and economic interventions to address crime effectively," as well as racial bias in the justice system, said Marc Mauer, the group's executive director.

I won't comment on your particular "example" since I don't have crime stats in front of me. When the main stream media declines to print certain news, it is because the truth is contrary to their world view.

Press never tells the truth. Like CNN when they said the economy was at its worse when unemployment is at an all time low and stock market is at an all time high. CNN lies to get the Liberals to think they are so right when they really are only brain washed idiots.

The whole crime thing is generally due to poverty.

Anyway, certain news sources are good and some arent. FOX and CNN are terrible. BBC is where it's at.

Or three times more likely to get caught. You can't make cause and effect arguments if you can't provide facts to back them up.
