I believe the theory of German superiority ended in about 1945.
I can tell you, they make some damn good cars, their universities are top, and they firmly believe "quality is job 1." It isn't just a slogan.
Addition: Actually, many Germans have an inferiority complex that I wish they would get over. There is nothing wrong with being proud to be a German, any more than there is anything wrong with being proud to be American, British, French, etc. WWII is 60 years ago. They need to get over it and move on. You don't see Americans holding their head low because of slavery and stealing the land from the Indians. Russians don't blame themselves for Stalin's purges. Even the Turks deny the Armenian genocide.
The Germans have been more than remorseful and have paid heavily (too heavily in my opinion) in restitution. What's wrong with the rest of us?

I've never heard nor read about the Germans claiming to be superior than any other ethnic groups or nationality, at least not in my recent memory.
However, the fallacy that there is such a claim may have originated from the historical accounts of Adolf Hitler trying to promote the supremacy of the Aryan race and creating a super group of people from it. Note, however, that the Aryan race is not necessarily from a pure German descent, but includes as well many Indo-Iranian groups of peoples like the Nordic, Slavic, Baltic, Greek and Roman ethnic groups. Thus, Hitler was misunderstood as having espoused and promoted the idea of the German people being the superior ethnic group. The Germans were just one of the components of the Aryan groups of people.
Secondly, I do not think it is the latter 20th or the 21st Century German government (both from the Bonn era until the unification years that reinstated Berlin as the political center of Germany as a whole) that can be blamed for the "projected image" that anything German is superior. Even the American business enterprise has its share of "blame" for such image projection: many a times you see advertising with such wordings as "German precision, German worksmanship, German engineering." That too may have some rationale, albeit - history has always been replete with references to the German scientists migrating to the US and helping to build the Atomic Bomb for the US, thanks to Werner Von Braun etal; also, references to the genius of Albert Einstein, and to the vaunted "precision" craftsmanship of BMW or Mercedes Benz cars, and of Swiss watches (The Swiss are a German-descent people too!).
Achtung! In closing, however, you might be comforted to know as an American - or probably not comforted, but still be warned - that many historical surveys have claimed that the biggest ethnic groups in America today actually are the German-descent peoples - not the English, as what was loosely thought of (because of the Pilgrims account), nor the Italians. But then again - and this is beautiful and indeed a balancing factor in this argument - the English came from a German group of people, and the Italians came from the Romans, who in turn were part, together with the Germans, of the Aryan race.
So what's the issue? Probably none. Most of the people in this USA probably came from a more predominantly German background than they could ever admit or even imagine as explained above.
PS: I am not of German descent American. What I spoke of above is therefore independent and fair and comes solely from my own knowledge of history. (For your assurance, I encourage you to look into my profile).

They have the right to! How we won the war I do not know!
-There transport systems run to the absolute second, and they are all top-notch, clean trains/buses.
-The people are friendly and co-operative
-They are hard workers - it takes them just 3 days to build a house, working from the early hours of the morning with a couple of breaks until 6pm
Although i'm proud to be English and love my country, it has to be said, they have the right to feel superior, because they are in almost every department! Thats why they were in the top 5 of "Quality of Life" survey, and we were 30 something (fact). But the fact is, they are very proud nation and they know they feel superior - its always been their way.
The thing we have that they don't? Humour! And you can't buy that!

We're all the same.
If you take 100 Brits or 100 Americans, or 100 Germans, or 100 of any other group and break it down.
You will find 85% normal hard working average folk. 5% high achievers with higher intellect, 5% lazy, stupid, under achievers and 5% criminals, worthy only of jail.
We are all human!
