This is a grisly hypothetical - I sincerely hope and pray it never happens. But let's assume, for this question only, that it has. Terrorists have succeeded in "nuking" one or more US cities.

I'm not really asking what should take place in response as much as what do you think WOULD happen, in terms of law enforcement and military response, especially in our country.

The whole issue gives me the willies. But have at it anyway. Thanks.

It will be New Orleans/Katrina to the nth degree.

As horrific as you can possibly imagine the chaos will be -- it will be WORSE.

We're not prepared, our focus and resources are on completely irrelevant "issues."

Which is precisely why the terrorists have already won.

Very likely, people would freak out and panic for the first year, enact all kinds of legislation to try and lock the country down even tighter.... and then leave it all in place.

One group would be blamed and everyone would rally against that group as the source of all things evil in the world. One more nail in the constitutional coffin.

Yes, terrorism is a threat. But our past history has shown that we react irrationally and impulsive -- rather than acting sensibly and effectively to stop the actual threats.
