Alex Rodriguez would be the most likely to surpass Pete Rose and Hank Aaron/Barry Bonds records.
He is currently on pace this year to have 585 AB, 56 HR, and 175 Hits w/ a .300 Avg. (rough estimates)
His first full year in the league was 1996 (21 years old). Since then he's put up 6921 AB, 491 HR and 2131 hits.
He's now been in the league 12 full years (32 years old) and has averaged 577 AB, 41 HR and 178 hits per season
If he were to play another 10 years! (42 years old, Bonds age) he would have 12,694 AB, 902 HR and 3,916 hits.
add the 2 year prior to his rookie year where he only had minimal AB's and your looking at
12,890 AB (2nd), 907 HR (1st) and 3,960 Hits (3rd)
Pujols is another one to have a chance but he's still so young still. He could get to 4,000 hits but that would still be 3rd on the list and push A-Rod down to 4th.

Hank Arron is third with 3771. And the closest player to Rose who is currently playing is Craig Biggio with 3014+, which could give you an idea of how hard it would be to make it to Pete or Ty, let alone any where near the 4000 hit club. The only way for someone to even come close would be if we have the second coming of Ty Cobb.

Hank Aaron, with 3,771. More than 400 behind Cobb. Nobody is remotely close, but experts are beginning to say that if Derek Jeter can remain healthy for ten more years, he has a shot at getting to 4,000, he currently has 2,277 and is 33 years old. For his career he has averaged 208 hits a season, and he is on pace to break 200 hits again this season.

A-Rod has as good of a chance as Jeter at creeping into 3rd place. I don't think anyone playing today will get in Pete Rose territory. It will be a guy who starts his big league career at age 19. I think a big milestone will be if they have 2,000 hits at age 30. That is when you can start speculating on guys breaking that record.

Ted Williams is often underated in this debate. He hit 511 jacks, yet lost 5 years of top enjoying time for the period of while he served in the army. 40 a year could are transforming into him close sufficient to make Babe Ruth a objective. He would have been egocentric and hit against watered down struggle time pitching or perhaps hit greater. He merits greater credit. Babe Ruth wasn't an entire time postition participant in the process the 1st few years of his carreer. The ball replace into distinctive then, so we could say that he would desire to have hit twenty to 20 5 a year for the 1st 4 years. that would desire to get him as much as eight hundred possibly. Aaron hit the main although. I constantly say that Aaron replace into the terrific hitter. He had quite some hits, not in basic terms homers. He would desire to run too. Aaron never gets sufficient credit. that's surprisingly unhappy using fact he has gotten lots fanfare, yet each and every physique look at is the living house runs. My vote is for Ruth. He had to hit against puitchers who scuffed the ball, spit on it and used so lots greater pine tar than Kenny Rogers.

Hank Aaron has the third-highest career total of hits, with 3771.
Among active players, there are two who have a small chance -- and it is a VERY small chance, but given their ages and histories, they are in reasonable position to challenge Rose -- Derek Jeter and Miguel Cabrera. An assault on the hits record would be at least a decade away.

Jeter could wind up with about 3,500 hits which would put him behind Aaron and I don't see anyone coming along right now that will reach 4,000. Ichiro would have had a shot but he came to MLB later in his career.
