Morneau is a much better defensive first baseman than Ortiz and just as good a hitter, I would go with Morneau.

Morneau - he's the better fielder of the two and it's not even close. Ortiz is a liability with the glove, he's a great DHbut a backup first baseman at best.

(I'm assuming that you mean, if they were both on your team, which player would you put in the game first)

Ortiz has been struggling to hit HR's and RBI's due to a leg injury. But other than that, he has played well, and has got on base a lot.

Morneau has been lights-out at times this season. And at other times, he's struggled as much as anyone else in the league. But he has a fair amount of HR's and RBI's. And he plays defense (unlike Ortiz the DH).

Ortiz:
BA (Batting average): .320
HR (Home runs): 16
RBI (Runs batted in): 59
OBP (on base%): .431
SLG (slugging): .564
SO (strike-outs): 62
BB (walks): 62

Morneau:
BA: .289
HR: 26
RBI: 78
OBP .362
SLG: 566
SO: 53
BB: 38

Personally, I'd go with Morneau this year. But only by a slight edge.

I would rather Justin Morneau at first. He's a dynamic hitter and a pretty good fielder.
