I'm trying to convert the following problems:
a. How many grams are in 5,280 mg?
b. How many meters are in 475 nanometers?
c. What is the mass in grams of a 72.6 kg man?
d. How many milliliters are contained in a 2L bottle?
The answers I got are:
a. 5.28 g
b. 4.75 X 10 to the negative seventh power m (meters)
c. 7.26 X 10 to the negative second power g (grams) OR .0726g
d. 2000mL

a) 1000mg = 1g
therefore 5280 mg = (5280mg x 1g) / 1000mg
= 5.28g
b)10^9nm = 1m
therefore 475 nm = (475nm x 1m) / 10^9nm
4.75^-7
c)1kg = 1000g
therefore 72.6kg = (72.6kg x 1000g) / 1kg
=72,600g
d)1l = 1000ml
therfore 2l = (2l x 1000ml) / 1l
= 2000ml

3 outta 4 isn't bad.
The mass in GRAMS of the 72.6 KILOgram man is 1000*72.6 grams = 7.26x10+4 grams. Remember, if the unit converted TO is smaller than the unit converted FROM, the answer will be larger.

72.6 kg (kilo grams) = 72,600 g
kilo- 1000
milli- 1/1000
