Short answer is yes, of course... BUT... I bet everyone can think of a few times that someone has "helped" them out, or gotten involved in something that you were working on and caused frustration or annoyance because of that help.
So, while we may appreciate the sentiment, the action is not always appreciated.
Maybe the lesson is to be sensitive to other people as you "help" them or do something for them.

Yes I do. As a matter of fact if I ever win the lottery I want to buy wonderful presents for the people that have helped me in my lifetime. God bless them all.

Definitely! I have a lot on my plate, so to speak, and if somebody is willing to do something for me, I truly appreciate it! (Even if it's something small! Every little bit helps, you know!)
