Tell me something a parent said to you that was so true?

My dad told me..."if a person has to tell you how smart they are then they can't be that smart.." How right he was!

My mom always said to me "Unless someone actually says that they love you and repsect you for who you are, then they don't truly love you" Very true.

To get me from hanging out with the wrong crowd, my dad used to tell me "When the whore house gets busted, even the piano player goes to jail." I still hang out with (what he sees as) the 'wrong crowd' but the advise he gave me is very true.

My mom always said "Mother knows best." And I agree with her because everytime she said something to me and I didn't do it or chose to ignore her, she was always right. But she never said "I told you so." Which makes me love her even more.
