What happens with paradoxes in theory? Putting traveling back intime imposible aside. Im sure that you all have heard of the if you go back in time and kill your self then you never could be able to go back in time to kill yourself. So what would happen?

That's one reason they say it's impossible to travel back in time.

The pat answer is that you can't go back. But Brian Greene, of "The Elegant Universe" and string/M theory, doesn't necessarily buy that. His approach is to say, If one could go back, say, using worm holes to rip through the fabric of the cosmos (another book of his), he speculates we'd find a yet undiscovered law of physics that would prevent you from interfering with the original chain of events.

For example, you would somehow be unable to be in the same time and space of your best friend who stole your HS girlfriend and, therefore, forced you to marry someone else. You would not be able to kill off your best friend and prevent him from marrying your first love.

One possibility of such a non-interference law might be that your presence in the past might be just a bit out of sync in time and/or space. So, although you might be able to see your best friend, you would not be able to touch or otherwise interfer with him and your first girlfriend.

First of all, one of you would be dead.

It is possible because you are going back in time. This is your timeline and everything is still going forward even though you went back. It is inherent that you also be in the past. This is the paradox of time travel. It is implicit that you could be in two places at one time.

I don't think that's true. time travel is a lot more complicated than that. what I mean is that when you travel back, you are not on your own timeline, you are on a different worldline's time.

I recommend seeing a movie called "12 Monkeys". It is the best time-travel movie and answers a lot of questions about it.

Nothing would happen because time travel is not possible. You can't just shove that aside and make up a new theory based on faulty assumptions.
