Yes. The smoke is in a well hidden container in all appliances. When the container goes bad and lets the smoke out, you no longer have a working appliance.

Yes that is true if it stops working then somethings wrong with that appaliance is malfunctioning or overheating and you should stop using it and get it looked at by a repair man
