Although everyone seems to have an opinion on things it just seems to be the radicals that cause the problems. I mean we all just want what's best for the country. Very few people fully support their all of their party's views on all things.

Would you agree or disagree?

it certainly appears that your assumption is accurate.

But then again, when a moderate speaks up, they are bashed by whatever side disagrees witht their stance on an issue as being a radical of the opposite side.
When a person is so far left that common sense seems right-wing, any moderate will appear to be a fascist.
When a person is so far rightwing that reason appears left-wing, any moderate will appear to be a socialist.

Oh its definetly radical versus radical. They are hardly any moderates. One of the reasons is because of the nature of Y answers. You have one shot per question to prove your point and make as big a splash as possible. So because of that, people often go to the extremes to get their beloved 10 points.

I prefer to view myself as a radical moderate. LOL

Moderate in that both Repubs and Dems have great ideas and motivations. Radical in that both sides should be held accountable for their misdeeds. Extremists are radical by nature. One can be radical without being on the extreme of either side.

The country has become quite polarized, the left wants to take America into a socialist state with very few moral codes of conduct developed over the last 2 millenia, conservatives are fighting to not let that happen, to keep the country as our founders intended; where personal responsibility is primary and the can do spirit of the individual leads the day, not the govt. holding our hands from cradle to grave. When you have those opposing forces their is not a lot of room for compromise...some but not a lot. My take anyway.

People with extreme views are far more distraught at society and see the need for more drastic, rapid change.

It's one thing to think that we should have prayer in school. It's another thing to think that we should adopt the entirity of Leviticus as the law of the land, and strictly interpret it... including the death penalty for working on Sunday and homosexuality. A person who believes the latter is far more upset, angry and appalled at the horrible direction the world is going.

I would agree. On this board, the radicals rule the roost. Very rarely to the moderates speak up and everyone listens. Try to think of this as a place to blow off steam.

Quite honestly, I see a lot more radical right-wingers than I do left-wingers (Americans are not really left-wing, so I mean this in a relative sense). It only takes one side being radical for reasoned debate to shut down.

Actually a lot of them are liberty versus collectivism.

The problem is that so many people play both sides on different issues.
