No, we actually did go to the moon in the 60's, every shred of so called evidence for a hoax has been debunked. The reason the US doesn't want China to go to the moon is pride and arrogance- we want to be the only country to have been there, and we don't want China to gain the prestige and power that may come with a successful moon landing.

It's a question of who will get to profit from the resources on the Moon.
Some believe we are on the verge of a "space rush" with nations vying for resources that are scarce on Earth but can be found in larger quantities on the Moon and other extra-Earth objects. Other nations besides the Chinese have Moon missions in the planning stages, including a return by the Americans to establish a permanent base.
Helium 3 is a lunar resource of particular interest lately. Only available as a trace element on Earth, Helium 3 has been found in significant quantities on the Moon. What makes Helium 3 valuable? Possibly its use as a viable fuel source for fusion reactors. Helium 3 may be the fuel source of the future. Then again it may not. I doubt the US will to sit back and let China find out.
See the article below for more information on Helium 3.

I have not heard any official statements by the government opposing China going to the Moon. But the average American probably would feel shamed if they went there before we went back. It is just an ego trip. Just like 1969. That was an ego trip too. We went to prove we could do it and nobody else could. And we stopped going because we had proved it. Been there, done that. That may change if other nations start seriously trying to go. So far though, China isn't really serious. They are not spending nearly enough money to make it any time soon.

Your premise doesn't merit a snicker. Nobody gives a flying f*k whether China goes to the moon...though they have nothing approaching the capability to do so at this time.
10 years from now they may. Good for them. If and when the Chinese do visit the moon...you can rest assured that everyone they send will have a thorough knowledge of past missions to the moon - that includes all the procedures and technologies used during the Apollo program.
That, of course, will exclude you.

Quite an interesting question. It is reasonable to suggest that there may be a political reason for the U.S. to be wary of Chineese advancement within the Global scene. China's GDP has been growing at a dramatic pace, allowing them the possibility of space exploration. More important than the discovery of a "smoking gun" in space, however, would be the impact China will have in the next ten years as they position themselves as one of the major economic powers in the world. I think the last thing in our minds will be the question of whether our moon landing was a hoax!

You assume of course that the Chineese will land at spot landed on first by the Americans. The moon is a big place, just because you land on it doesn't mean you would automatically find footprints and the like. Enough of this hoax rhetoric, it's getting old.

Some claim that if China goes to the moon, they would claim it to themselves. Which may not be true, just like when Bush claimed Iraq had weapons of mass destruction, or that the US would be out of there in no times flat, it may only be a scare tactic. Again.
There was no big lie, the moon landing really occured.

It is very simple. We want to be the only one. We want the distinction as being the only nation that have landed people on the moon. It is about bragging rights, period. The only reason I see of sending people the Moon is to prepare for future colonization of space. Any other objective can be accomplished cheaper, easier, and safer with robots.

First of all Buzz Aldrin is a personal friend of mine... I know in my heart we landed on the Moon...The reason the Chinese want to go there is simple... Helium 3 which was brought back in the Moon Rocks and could supply us with unlimited safe energy. Thirty tons could supply of of the UN energy needs for a year.... Check it out....
