I support the notion of gay marriage and I have 2 daughters, ages 16 and 20. I can assure you that if either one of them told me she was gay, I would certainly remain staunch in my support for her to have the right to participate in the responsibilities and rights that marriage affords people in this country, probably even more staunchly than I do now.

I dont like the idea of homosexuality but Im not against, its just not for me. If my kids turned out gay i wouldnt care what they did.
I think on gay marriage, the gov't should allow civial unions. As far as getting married in a chruch and such, that would be up to the chruch's and their doctorines. Everyone seems to think that is gay unions are legalized everywhere, than chruchs MUST marry them but that is not the case. No religious institution is required to marry anyone, and can turn down anyone they chose.
Buy my quesiton to you is, if you support gay marriage and your kids were gay, why would your views change?? I could see if you didnt support it, then you might change to support it.

No. While I believe homosexuality is sinful, I don't think trying to stop gay marriage does anything with the sin problem that comes from people's hearts. Instead of lashing out politically against gay marriage, I would teach them about the love of Christ, and the Holy Spirit would convict them of their sin. The Holy Spirit's convictions are a lot more powerful than men's laws and the church needs to get its power out of politics and get plugged into God, the source of our strenght.

Yes. Instead of just 'supporting' it - I would actively campaign for their right to marry. Of course - people dont' seem to realize that the state issues marriage licenses, not the church. "Marriage" is only a religious experience when performed by the clergy. That is a choice. One can get married by a justice alone with no religion involved.

If my son or daughter were gay, as long as they were happy, my views would be kept to myself & I would support them. That is what love & familiy are all about.

I can support a gay union, not marriage. Marriage is for reproduction after you fall in love.

I think you mean to address people who oppose same-sex marriage. Since those who already support it would likely support it even more if a loved one was being affected by the ban.
As a side note, gay marriage is allowed in all 50 states. Any gay man can marry any lesbian women (assuming not blood relations) -- sexual orientation has nothing to do with the laws.
They are purely gender-based discrimination.

Not at all. I would like them to be able to marry no matter who they decide to be with.
Actually, Id probably be more with Sophie-get much more active in support of the issue. Cant have people/gov't denying rights to my children, its my duty to protect them, even from the gov't.

If my son or daughter were gay, no my views wouldn't change. I love my kids unconditionally, and as long as they were happy with the person they chose.
