It's all about the dollar unfortunately some towns want your money even for the small stuff others have such huge fines on seat belts and such that they haven't got to neon yet. You are just giving them a reason to harass you even if its legal in your area you run the risk of being stopped at any time by a cop with a quota...........

Such laws vary by state and county, so it's not illegal everywhere.

Those that do prohibit it do so because it is distracting to other drivers, and thus causes a traffic hazard.
