Why does Obama say this?

Obama says that preventing a potential genocide in Iraq isn't a good enough reason to keep U.S. forces there.

Obama's wrong. We are responsible for creating the vacuum that led to the violence and have a duty to try to stem it.

Yes, He is slowly saying things that will be sure to make him lose the DNC nomination... That was the plan from the beginning. He would come in look like the front runner, give Hillary a run for her money... Get the people all ruffled up because he's a black man with a Muslim like name. People would poor their pitty into him for being so hated. All so a women (Hillary) could stand a chance to win the Presidency!! The ploy is to make all those who hate Hillary view her as not so bad after all, Some people are dead set against having a Female run this country, But after 9/11 those same people are even more against a Muslim running this country!!

Think about it.. Why would they even consider running a black male with a Muslim name to run for president. And he's been so secretive until recently. It's all just a trick by the Democrats to set Hillary up for President.

Obama is a politician he will say anything that will get him more campaign contributions from the hate Bush and the Neocon crowd.

If he is so unlucky as to actually become the next President then he'll be in the hot seat trying to tie up the loose ends of the war like Nixon did after Vietnam (which the Dem started).

WOW! I didn't know much about Obama even though I am an active follower of Illinois politics. It seems every time he opens his mouth lately the guy gets himself in more trouble. So preventing mass genocide is meaningless to our country?
Barack is also supportive of cutting back the size of our military and a big proponent of national healthcare. His healthcare plan would bankrupt us This man is becoming scarier by the minute!

Genocide being the "deliberate and systematic extermination of an ethnic or national group", it would take a person of extreme ignorance not to realize that there is genocide being waged on Shiite's, Sunni's, and to a lesser extent Kurds ALREADY in Iraq.

Preventing a genocide would be a good reason to go into Iraq, not a good reason to stay there. Why don't we go into every unstable country in the name of "preventing" genocide.

So NOOOOOW Republicans want to prevent genocide in Iraq.

If Genocide were important to you we'd be in Darfur.

he made a point that we are not in Darfur or any other country preventing genocide, so why are we trying to do it in Iraq.

(I read the article).

To me, it is him basically saying that protecting the people of Iraq just isn't a good enough reason to stay there.

And as I keep hearing about the fatalities of our troops, I am inclined to agree to a certain extent....

The framers of the US Constitution were bright enough to know that you cannot police the world, and that only those issues which have a compelling national interest or threaten the national security deserve to have American blood spilled.

I think the terrorists could launch a nuclear strike on Nebraska, and the first thing democrats would say is, "See? We should've left Iraq."

Our forces being there allowed the genocide to begin. Obama wants to end our government's responsibility for it by electing a government that had nothing to do with it.

That doesn't mean he should necessarily be the one to lead it. It does mean that he was right all along about this stupid war.
