You can keep snails with the fry, but nothing can replace a filter and consistent maintenance.

Snails, nor any bottom feeder, do not eat the fish waste that cause water to become toxic and that is what a filter is for. Snails and bottom feeders eat algae and other vegetative growth and leftover food. They don't eat fish poop. While the leftover food does contribute to the fouling of the water, it is also the fish waste that is a big contributor. Also, a filter oxygenates the water. With the exception of bettas, all fish need to have filters to enhance oxygen production. You could keep snails with fry because the snail is far too slow to catch a swimming fish. Even a baby fish. If a snail can catch a fish, that fish is very sick and should probably be removed anyway.

No, they won't replace the filter. The filter is there to help clean the water by providing chemical, mechanical, and biological filtration. And, it helps agitate the water surface to allow gases to exchange-oxygen and CO2. Snails are there more so for cleaning algae, and sometimes leftover food on the bottom.
Yes, snails can live with the fry.

Of course not. The filter works mechanically, chemically, and biologically. The snail does nothing of that sort. It just eats leftover food on the bottom. And I'm sure it's ok to keep them with guppy fry.

No, snails do absolutely nothing to replace filters. As for the guppies, I'm sure they'll be fine.

OMG! If you are asking this, please don't get fish. Snails don't filter the water! Snails at most eat a couple things off the bottom, but also add waste. They often grow out of control also, and some people say they cause bacterial infections.

snails are good aquarium janitors, however snails will out produce rabbits. Snails are also hermaphrodites, so it only takes one snail to get the population going.
Love em for their cleaning ability, hate em when theres hundreds of em.
