Finale serves just desserts. They have a few locations in Boston and the area. Check them out. . . . .Otherwise, you could go to the North End and check out some of the little bakeries there. Modern Pastry or Mikes are the most famous. . .But, here's my little tip. Go to Bova Bakery on Salem Street. It's just as good as the other places, but on a little corner so it won't be as crowded AND it's open 24 hours a day!!!! Their cheesecake is insanely good. . . .Plus a nice romantic walk around the north end is always so much fun. So no, you don't need to go to a restaurant.

There are a couple options for just dessert.
1) Finale - that's pretty much all they do. Incredible stuff, but it's rather pricey. If all you're doing is a dessert for the night, it's worth going.

2) Cafe Vittoria in the North End. I love this place - great people watching, awesome cappucino's and Italian pastry. And they're open pretty late.

It's been done,
There is a chain called Finale that is open late for diners to stop in and have dessert, coffee and drinks after dinner. There are Finale locations in Boston, Brookline and Cambridge.

I believe there is a franchise around called just deserts, how ever I do not know if there is one in the Boston area.
Perhaps you could do an on line search for it.
If not you would probably have to go to a regular restaurant. They will not turn you away, business is business.

Best source to find any price range and different types of cuisine (restaurants), ger a reveiw of the restaurant and many times even see what the menu & decor look like is www.opentable.com. It totally works we always use this site when we travel & are always amazed how seamlessly it works... good luck and bon apetit!

Finale is good, or Mikes pastry in the north end but that tends to get pretty crowded
