People tend to fall in love for a number of reasons, and some people find new reasons to be in love everyday. By the last comment I mean that sometimes you actually grow to love somebody, maybe in a deeper and more meaningful way. One reason I think people come to love each other is because of a sense that the person cares about them and one person feels safe with another. By safe I mean that the other person would not do anything to harm them and would stick up for them.
I don't think anything really triggers true love. I think true love grows. I think things can trigger infatuation and in some case infatuation leads to true love, but not always. It is important not to fall in love with the fantasy one develops about another person such that we ignore the reality. Sometimes people live up to the fantasy. Maybe that is what love is. But remember, love would not knowingly hurt you for the sake of making you feel pain (and keeping you in line).
