An almost universal human phenomenon is that as education and income increase- child numbers decrease (with few exceptions).

Why do you suppose this exists- especially in Western nations where access to contraception, termination, vasectomy, tubal ligation and family planing/sex education are extremely accessible?

What can we do in the West to decrease this undesirable social phenomena especially teen unwed pregnancies (which statistically clearly illustrate poverty/welfare dependency)?

This phenomena does not only exist in the Western nations but to all the third world countries worldwide, where extended families ties are still observed.

Poor people tend to have more children because those poor parents think that their children could uplift their present living conditions when they grow up and when they have their own jobs. This goes back during the time of our ancestors where most of the people that time dependent on agriculture. The more hands in the field the better, the more children you have the richer you become. Instead of hiring other people and paying these people for their services for farm labor, children works for the family without being paid and that is a big financial savings for the family.

What we can do to decrease this undesirable social phenomena is to inculcate to the people at the earliest stage that having children is a responsibility not a privilege. The goal here had been overseen, we focused more on different techniques of birth control but we forgot our responsibilities when its time to have our own children.

I believe we can only express our opinions and thoughts on this question. Could it not be argued, that the more career and income concentrated a population is, the less likely children are born? It has been estimated that it costs approximately 8,500 British Sterling to raise a child every year, and this expensive cost could discourage some people from having children.
This may contradict the fact that poor people have more children, but their poverty in the Western World may arise from other factors, such as a greater number of divorces, greater numbers of single-parent families or a disadvantaged situation. Poorer men and women may see beyond a career-fuelled life much easier than a richer person who is already content and satisfied with his/her life.
If speaking on an international basis too, poorer families in some poverty-stricken countries in Africa, Asia and South America may be inclined to have more children in order to receive more help economically (e.g.: more children could mean more wage earners, or a next generation to care for the parents economically).
Hope this helps you, and thanks for asking a very interesting question,
Naz

frequently it particularly is by using fact households with greater money tend to have a greater advantageous coaching. subsequently, they're in a position to attain that having toddlers drains money. The greater toddlers you have, the greater money which you will desire to as nicely in simple terms throw onto the hearth place. they even tend to attain that the greater toddlers you have, the less time you have for your self. whether you're applying day cares, hiring nannies, etc. i think of it is likewise social tension. there is this finished concern approximately having a definite volume of toddlers, born 'interior the nicely suited volume of time of one yet another." frequently it particularly is 2 toddlers of opposite sexes, who are not nearer than a year yet are not better than 2 years or some thing like that. One new child is in simple terms too few, 3 toddlers is pushing it, and four toddlers are too many. With poorer households, intercourse coaching isn't that large. i think of area of the problem is they concentration lots on STDs that they do no longer tell youngsters why having a toddler once you may not cope with to pay for it particularly is undesirable, and how terrible it particularly is to be the single raising a new child. extraordinarily on my own, and much greater so without a destiny. additionally, there is this line of concept that no longer immediately, one way or the different each and every thing would be very nicely. the government (tax payers) will pay for the new child, or God will grant, or some thing alongside those lines.

There may be more reasons:
1. The higher education, people normally use their time for studying.
2. Education cost money, which lead to later time with regular income;
3. The effect of this is later and fewer childbirths.
4. Other reasons

Theres lots of reasons. Growing up in an environment where having lots of babies is normal is an influence. Too many of those women think its their purpose in life to have and raise children, never mind if they can afford them or not.
Me, I'm neither rich nor poor, leaning a little towards the poor, but I have enough sense to know I can't afford to support a baby so I'm not gonna have one.
I'm working full-time, paying all my own bills and eating bologna sandwiches for dinner while these people are buying t-bones with their food stamps and living in cheap government housing which leaves them able to spend their cash on all kinds of fun stuff.

I'm not sure it has so much to do with how much sex is had, but having more children is a way to relieve boredom if you are stuck in a dead end/no interest job with little money to pursue any hobbies.

However, is it really such an 'undesirable social phenomena' that we need to do something about?

It could be that couples are poor to begin with and then start having babies to ensure their kids will support them in the future. In America, there are rich families with 2.5+ kids too. Also, certain cultures favor large families and these culture are the ones who tend to be poor in America because they are the 1, 2nd generation immigrants who struggling to survive and maintain their traditions. On the other hand, rich countries make it easier if not desirable for some to produce more kids. There will always be those who like to milk the system because its easier than going to school and finding a job.

It exists because with less education, people are less likely to know that those options exist, and they are also less likely likely to be able to afford many options due to the fact that they often barely survive from day to day. Schools in poorer areas don't have good sex education. So we can only try to help by donating money to sex education programs, and teaching our own kids about the consequences of sex without protection.

I believe it is because in the UK poor families get paid more from the state for each child that they have, while better off people have to make do with the same income as they have always had.
