Make sure you have a plan. Make sure you let them know that it's OKAY to take a relative to the prom. Be sure to point out the example of Clinton Portis (the famous current runningback of the Washington Redskins). He took his mother to the prom. Now look. NO ONE makes fun of him for that. Also be sure to say that you're obviously not interested in a romantic relationship. AND add the fact that LOTS of people go as just friends.

I don't know why you would want to ask your cousin to the prom, rather than some other member of the opposite sex, unless you and/or your cousin are terminally unwanted.
