No.
It takes desire, hard work, and lots of practice.
People say that I am good at math.
How lucky!!
But they didn't see me always doing not only my homework, but tens and tens of unassigned problems that I worked at until I understood what was going on.
And like a little pebble starts an avalanche, the first clue you get, makes the next problem a little easier, and then the two you solved make the next one even easier and so on and so on.
And the first time you walk away from a problem that you can't do without insisting to yourself that you are going to solve it or badger your friends and teacher until you know how to solve it, that first time, you are planting the idea in your brain that you can't do math.
Then you have a ready made excuse not to take the time and effort to even try to do even the simplest of problems in class and in work and in life: I just can't do math.
Boo. Hoo.

What an interesting question! Not really, we all seem to need to be able to perform math on one level or another. However, it has been thought for years that some people are genetically inherent towards it. My father was a math genius, I tell everyone give me a calculator and I am one too. At some level we are going to have to admit, however, that genetics do play a part in things, but if anyone...literally anyone...applies themselves, the odds are good that they will be competent at math. This is male or female. Hope that helps.

I think some people are blessed with a natural gift of facility for math comprehension. But even people who are not naturally gifted can excel in math through hard work and study.

Math or for that matter expertise in anything has to be earned through HARD WORK.
People who say it is a gift are incapable of hard work.

I think that the ability to perform complex mathematical formulas correctly is definitely a skill.
The ability to quickly comprehend and learn complex mathematical formulas and knowing which one to apply to a given situation is a gift.

It isn't a gift or anything. It was just created for accuracy in procedures, so maybe its just a helpful skill.
