Francis (currently a free agent) is due to sign with the Rockets. He's had better offers with more years and money on them, but he turned 'em down to reunite with former teammate Yao Ming and others. I think it's a good career move for the "Franchise." Now maybe 10 year veteran Tracy McGrady can actually make it past the 1st round. I'm not trying to disrespect him or anything, it's just sad that a player of his caliber and talent can't do it. The Rockets may now restore the powerhouse team they we're back when the had Francis and return to the top ranks in the West. Too bad New Jersey is gonna win the championship next season!

Spurs choke every time they try to defend their title. They'll never win back-to-back titles....they just can't do it, they're not good enough.

This could be a good fit ONLY IF the Steve Franchise the Rockets are getting back isn't the one they trade away. The Francis they traded away was a Me-First player who didn't want to play 2nd fiddles to any player on the team at the time. Let's hope Steve learns his lesson after his stint in Orlando and New York that he should be more of a team player. Afterall, it was his attitude and his style of playing that got him trade not just once but 3 times. Orlando traded him because he was hampering the developing of young point guard Jameer Nelson. New York traded him because he couldn't coexist at SG with point man Stephon Marbury. Now is probably Steve's last chance to show the NBA that he still has the talent to contribute to an NBA team.
Francis will probably start somewhere in the backcourt either at SG with Rafer Alston and Mike James taking over the PG duties or vice versa. At least now, the team that the Franchise comes back to is more poise and experience than the team he left. Yao has developed into the respected center that the league has expected of him a few years ago. Having T-Mac and Yao taking all the heat, will give Francis a little more room to operate. The chemistry might work but the real problem that hasn't been address is the lack of a veteran power forward alongside Yao to help him out in the paint. The Chinese center is not a brutal force like Shaq so he'll need an experienced power forward who can help him get loose rebounds and box out opposing big men out of the paint. Hakeem Olajuwon had Otis Thorpe when they won their 2 championships. Ben Wallace didn't win a title until Rasheed came along. So unless the Rockets address this glaring weakness, it's not going to make much of a difference against teams like Utah, San Antonio, or Denver.

The only way the Rockets will fit into this team is if he tames his ego and realizes he is not the "Big Man on Campus" if you will. We will have to wait and see on the results but I think there will be some turmoil on the team, especially with Bonzi Wells on it as well! Good team, but they have to gel and cool their egos to win the Championship. Too bad your Nets will get sweeped like the Cavs did by the Spurs! Nothing against your Nets, it's just that I'm a Spurs fan.
Obviously Francis will play the SG or second guard. Houston will have to run a two guard system with guys like Mike James, Rafer Alston, Aaron Brooks, Steve Francis, John Lucas III, and Luther Head. I a couple of those guards on the move to solidify their big men.
Starting line-up that I think will work best:
PG: Rafer Alston or Mike James
SG: Steve Francis
SF: Tracy McGrady
PF: Shane Battier
C: Yao Ming

The Duncan-Ginobili-Parker trio is the best in the NBA right now and has been for the last couple of years. Second is the Amare-Marion-Nash trio. The Yao-McGrady-Francis trio is still far behind and the main reason: chemistry. The Spurs and Suns trio have been together for quite a while and has been successful playing with each other. Their chemistry with each other has been clicking in all cylinders. While the Houston trio hasn't been tested yet. It is queastionable as well if McGrady and Steve Francis provides much needed chemistry for Houston. I highly doubt them having good chemistry. Besides, these three are all proven injury-prone players so they might not be in court altogether like they might want to be.

You got me laughing towards the end there. Anyways, the trio of Francis, Yao, Macgrady will be one of the the best. Francis still capable of putting up numbers. But there is a down side for this trio, they must all stay healthy to have a chance to go further deep in the playoffs.

The Rockets will only be good if they're not injured, they need a whole season from Yao and T-Mac ... I don't think Francis will really do much for him, he is more of a backup PG now. I guess Rafer Alston will be looking for a new team now??

I think Houston will be a whole lot better just by having a new coach like Adelman. Van Gundy didn't play the team to its strengths. Plus, I also believe the players wanted him gone. Teams of the West, watch out.
