Let's think about this. The Lions have Calvin Johnson and Roy Williams. And The Lions have a great defense! They know how to stop the run really well and the offensive line will make a hole for Kevin Jones to run through so the Lions will be in the superbowl and then the Browns have Brady Quinn now and he'll be like the new Peyton Manning only better. The Browns and Lions will both have a 11-5 record this year and should be competing in the superbowl this year. You all just wait! It'll happen!

In all seriousness, the Lions are in the NFC North, and the old Black and Blue Division (it's the old NFC Central minus Tampa Bay) ain't what it used to be. The defending champion Bears, the Packers and the Vikings all have problems. A 9-7 record might win it, and if the Lions can just split their Division games, 3-3, they'd need only 6 more wins in their other 10 games. Is that truly impossible? And once you're in the Playoffs, anything can happen. That said, I think the Bears should be favored to win it again, although I don't see them making the Super Bowl in an otherwise loaded NFC.

The Browns are in the AFC North, where they'd have to get past the Steelers, Bengals and Ravens, all potential Playoff teams again. They could get slaughtered, and I don't mean Webster Slaughter.

Face it, if the Internet had been around in 1957, when the Browns and Lions played in the NFL Championship Game for the 4th time in 6 years, or even if you were writing this on the early Internet of 1994, which is the last time both teams made the Playoffs, no one would consider such a prediction ridiculous. But not in 2007.

The Lions will be in the Superbowl...next year

That is when the curse of Bobby Layne ends
http://www.curseofbobbylayne.com/index2.shtml

They do have a solid defense. They had a ton of injuries last year to some of their best players. Shaun Rogers is the best defensive tackle in the game when he wants to be and moving Corey Redding to the inside was a great move. Redding was 2nd in the NFL among DT's in sacks last year (Warren Sapp was 1st). Remember the first game of the season last year when they had their whole defense healthy they held the Seahawks to just 3 field goals. That's pretty damn good.

Ernie Sims is the best linebacker in the league that no one knows about. He led the team in tackles as a rookie and he's only gonna get better. He'll be a perennial pro-bowler for the rest of his career.

Despite what people say about how it's a big loss to lose Dre Bly the truth is Dre did not want to be there. He wasn't willing to put in the work that Marinelli demanded and now he is gone.

That's the thing I love about Marinelli. He's not a bullshitter. He got rid of the guys that didn't want to be there and drafted guys with good attitudes with love for the game and guys that will work hard to get better each week.

Jon Kitna is much better than an average quarterback. He was 4th in the NFL in passing yards lat year and while he did make a lot of mistakes you have to remember he was sacked way more than any other QB. He was sacked more times that Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, and Brett Favre COMBINED. So that's obviously not all his fault. And again, it didn't help that they were playing with 2nd, 3rd, and 4th string O-linemen pretty much the whole year due to injury.

Kevin Jones could be a great running back if he ever got some decent blocking. In his rookie season he led the entire NFL in rushing yards over the final 8 games so he's definitely capable of being one of the top backs in the game. They also added Tatum Bell and TJ Duckett in case Jones gets injured again.

In my opinion they have the best receiving corps in the league. Roy Williams led the NFC in receiving yards and led the NFL in yards per catch. Mike Furrey led the NFC in receptions. And all they did was add Calvin Johnson.

Gerald Alexander and Ikaika Alama-Francis were great picks even if no one knows who they are. They will both make an immediate impact in my opinion

As far as the Browns go I'm not so sure. I think they too have a great coach in Romero Crennell but I don't think a rookie QB can lead them to the playoffs, let alone the Superbowl. Remember they play in the AFC which is a much better conference than the NFC. They also have the Bengals, Ravens, and Steelers in their division. So they're still at least a couple years away. And also they play in Cleveland. Cleveland never wins anything. That's not a knock on Cleveland it's just a fact.

Saying that Brady Quinn is going to be the next Peyton Manning and lead the Browns to the Super Bowl this year is probably the craziest thing I have ever heard. I bet if you were willing to gamble on that, you could get like 1000:1 odds at least. Charlie Frye is going to be the starting QB and if he is winning games, Quinn won't see the field. If Quinn does get in, it will mean the Browns season is a bust so either way Quinn will not be leading the Browns to a Lombardi trophy.

If the Lions offense can turn into the next "Greatest Show on Turf" then they probably do have a reasonable shot at being one of the top teams in the NFC, but Jon Kitna is no Marc Bulger and while I like Kevin Jones, he has let me down in the past and he isn't quite Marshall Faulk, at least not yet. It would be great to see the Lions turn into an offensive powerhouse under Martz.

1. The lions had one of the worst defenses in the league last season. This year it should be just as bad if not worse. Absolutely no pass rush which lets opposing quarterbacks have all day to throw.

2. The lions have a terrible offensive line that cannot block for anybody.

3. Brady Quinn will play terrible this season and he was way overrated going into the draft. Soon we will see why so many teams were willing to pass on him. If he were a franchise quarterback someone would have taken him higher.

4. Peyton Manning is a million times better than Brady Quinn ever will be.

You are delusional..the brrowns haven't even signed thier first three draft picks and nobody knows when thats gonna happen....Brady quinn has no where near the arm strenght or accuracy of peyton manning he can't even start right now why do you think he fell so far in the draft,,, the browns also don't have the secondary to cover anyone.... the lions don't have a quarter back (john kitna is not viable) or a decent corner back for coverage tatum bell will help but the definsive line will struggle.... the browns have only an efficient d.... there is no way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Lions have a great defense? They had six (6) games in which they gave up 30 points or more. In addition, they lost one (1) of their better defensive players. Quinn better than Manning - not only is it way too early, but unforunately, Manning will go down (when it's over) as the best QB to play the game (and this is a Fins fan talking here) - that is a tall order.

A Lions / Browns Super Bowl just simply will never happen in our lifetime.

Dude, I am a dedicated lions fan and I would LOVE to see the lions get to the super bowl. The problem is, our line isnt that great even with the new additions, Calvin Johnson and Roy Williams are about equal recievers, our running backs suck. Even with a better line jones couldnt make a 4th and 1 touchdown. Plus our head coach, Marinelli, believes in defence more than offence and that GAURUNTEES a losing season, because offence wins games and if u dissagree you're an idiot. And FYI the lions defense isnt that great.

Seriously, the lions have a shot...the browns do not...the lions are everyone's dark horse for the superbowl this year (and it's not because of Kevin Jones nor Calvin Johnson)...Browns will hopefully finish .500...hopefully...

there is no way either of those teams are making it.. the lions have talent.. but ENOUGH? no not with that QB
and the Browns are being led by Brady Quinn who is a great young player but Troy Aikman also sucked his first year with the cowboys before goin on to win 4

give both those teams 2 more years and i think u have a case

Brady Quinn will not start until probably week 8 at the earliest...if he starts this season at all. The Lions can have every great wide receiver ever to play the game, but with Jon Kitna throwing to them, nobody will have a 1000 yard season. You have your record numbers backwards.
