if you hang around with Arabs you find that most of them (and of course not all of them) talk offensive about Iranians also Iranians do the same thing (I'm an Iranian myself i do hear a lot from my country mates) I'm studying in a country that has lots of Iranian and Arab students and i hear from other friends from other nationalities the same question i asked.

Well, I think that is because Iranians try to distance themselves from the Arabs. ("We are Aryan we are not Arabs") I don't know, maybe they try to take advantage from the ignorance of some people by calling themselves "Persian" instead of "Iranian" and by this way they try to eliminate possible prejudices against them. But frankly, you cannot tell the difference between an Arab and an *Aryan Persian* when they both stand next to each other.

Wow. Arabs and Iranians are not the same. Iranians call themselves Persians because they take pride in the past history of the Persian Empire. However there is no country out there called Persia. but Iranians still call themselves Persians.
Persians/Iranians are not the same as Arabs, they do not belong to the same race, Iranians are considered Aryan (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aryan_race)
I have called an Iranian Arab once and that was the last time I did that :)

I met this nice guy and I called him Arab, I had not idea he will get so mad, he started explaining all the history and that he was Persian, I was so confused, but in his tone I sense so much hate against Arabs and did not like him anymore, to me they look the same

I really don't know.. The countries have something against eachother. lol. And the people saying 'no they don't they're the same' are idiots.
I'm arabic and my best friend is persian. We get along fine :p but yeah, in general they just don't like eachother for some reason.

i'm iranian.and we iranian ppl hate our goverment too.we commonly hate soudia arabic ppl and lebnanian and and another close to worldwide places who're in simple terms like soudi.yet we adore egyptions and all of us understand u plenty different from different arabics.spacially as ur president helped our king after that stupid revelution.we hate different arabics becoz of their stupid lifestyle and occasional minds.and becoz of historic issues which we had with them.they have killed and ruined such distinctive of our ppl and our religious and lifestyle ...which exchange into the perfect in 1500years in the past.they have have been given our each element and now they're the main stupid lowmind disgusting ppl as they have been till now.u guyz all ought to check out history so properly

Iranians ARE Persians. They're not Arab. Maybe that's why.

I think they are just trying to distance themselves from each other. A lot of Americans would think they are of the same culture, but they are not. I didn't know they didn't like each other.

They are the same. There are very few of our global population that are not mixed. Males will be males.
