I used Nuvaring for 2 years. I've always had trouble with mood swings (PMDD) while on estrogen-based pills so I don't know why I thought the ring would be any different. I switched to the minipill about 5 months ago (I took it for about a year after I had my daughter so I knew what to expect) and had no problems until about 3 months ago. Since then I have a period every 1 1/2 to 2 weeks with bad cramping. What's more, I've been on the current period for 2 weeks (bleeding the whole time) with bad cramps that come and go. About 3 weeks ago my boobs started hurting pretty bad too. I've been moody too (pretty much wanting to kill anyone who talks to me. I never miss pills and take them the same time every day. My new insurance kicks in August 9th so I really want to hold out going to the doctor until then. Could it be an ectopic pregnancy?
Please keep in mind, until this point in my life I've never had anything but perfectly spaced, 28 day long cycles since I was 11. I'm 22.

I have been through this, I asked my doctor about it also. He said it's normal. Especially when you change birth controls or are on and off birth control. There is really nothing you can do about it or need to do about it. It does suck and it can be scary. I suggest, if you are in a steady relationship, get an IUD. There are a few different kinds with different hormone levels, in some cases you will not have periods at all. It lasts up to 5 years and can be removed early if you want to have childern. You have to have one child and be with a steady partner in order to get it though. I have one and it is the best! You dont gain weight like depo, and you dont have to worry about missing a pill each day. If you do have your period while you have an IUD it is much lighter and doesnt last as long.
With your current situation, dont worry about it. Just dont have sex, it may aggitate whatever is going on. When you can, go see your doctor.

I think you should work with your ob/gyn to find a system that does not involve hormones. It sounds like your body does not react well to them, and you could cause yourself some physical damage by continuing with them.

You might want to check out the Creighton Model. Science has made huge advancements in understanding and tracking a woman's ovulatory patterns. No more of that crazy hormone reaction!

It sounds to me as though you have fibroids. Go to the Dr. 8 Years ago I had fibroids and had a hysterectomy under military insurance. The cheaper answer was the surgery for them instead of alternative medicine. I think medicine has advanced so you don't have to have a hysterectomy. God to the Dr. I became anemic alomst to the point of needing to be hospitalized.
