Well Evolution goes against their prime mythological beliefs, namely "The Bible."
Global Warming does not suit their corporate backers, namely big oil, and big chemical corporations
I understand that some say that gravity is only a theory, and the earth sucks.

People with closed minds, like many neocons, often have a hard time with things that go against their "feel nice" ideals. For many people, it's hard to believe in concepts like evolution, and climate change. It is just easier for them to quote some book of mythology that they have memorized, rather than to actually read real scientific studies, and draw their own conclusions. Many lack the education in science to grasp such concepts, or choose to deny these concepts.

It's also interesting to see that many conservatives all believe in the same things, while more liberal people have beliefs all over the map. They all are in lock step with their leadership, because it's more convienent than actually studying an issue, and comprehending complex concepts.

They are not really allergic, but are not intellectually curious, and are intellectually lazy. Whatever the leader says, and what ever is convenient, is what they believe.

I love science. Among some of the scientific principles is, a theory must be able to predict an outcome, and then through experimentation and observation, see that outcome happen. If it doesn't, the theory isn't valid.

So when Al Gore gets up and pronounced NYC will be under 20 feet of water if we do nothing, and many scientists are saying the difference will be "inches" what does that tell you?

It tells you that the people pushing the Global Warming alarmism are not actually paying attention to the scientists and data.

Any good scientist will tell you that the earth's climate is an incredibly complex system, which we do not fully understand yet. Then throw in the sun and cosmic radiation for good measure. We can't possibly know that man made global warming truly exists, nor can we reliably predict the outcome. Most climate models don't even factor in precipitation!!!

Lastly, in the last 1000 years or so, the earth has been warmer, and cooler than it is now. Somehow mankind and the eco system have adapted and thrived. I cannot believe a few degrees of warming, even if man made global warming is completely true, will make all that much difference.

I think that there is a genetic abnormality which leads to this constant state of denial, or as you put it..."Allergy to Science".

People with this genetic abnormality prefer the comfort of the spiritual, rather than the factual. For example, the "Big Bang" and theories of evolution. There is technology now available which is reading the radiation given off by the "Big Bang" however this is disregarded for the much more romantic theories associated with Fundamentalist religious beliefs.

The problem arises when this thinking finds its way into politics. In New Zealand we don't see this as such a problem, as less than 1/2 of our county are church goers, but I can see in the USA you do. I am an avid reader of American political literature, and over the last 6 months the greatest debate has been centred around the religious beliefs of your candidates. You have seen this for years though...remember the debate surrounding Kennedy v Nixon...

The facts are clear. The science is proven. But there is still one work of fiction which has out sold even Harry Potter. And it remains the topic of the Da Vinci Code.

When you get guys like a failed politician like Al Gore who knows nothing on science and earth climate change and cycles and you believe what his video . The ice melting on Gore`s video was probably taken in summer ice melts in summer . There are scientists on both sides of this some saying we are warming others we are cooling . back in the 60`s and 70`s these same people were saying we are headed into another ice age. They cannot predict next weeks weather let alone ten or twenty years down the road.

Fundamentalism went political in the 70's and has been the rage ever since for the Republican party. It is a different political entity than the Gerald Ford party, for sure. Evolution, which is more than a Theory, of course, as you know, basically dismisses the old testaments explanation of how the earth and man was created, so, fundamentalists will deny it, and live, a kind of intellectual bubble like existence.

1) It is impossible to be "allergic" to science, so your question is stupid

2)Evolution is a theory, not a fact, due to the "missing link", therefore not a science

3)Global Warming has been made into a political issue, and scientists have not proven yet that it is actually occurring. Furthermore, even if it is, due to the global warmings and coolings in the past on Earth and on other planets, there is no reason to think that humans have anything to do with it. That is an egocentric liberal theory.

4) Gravity? Got news for ya, we've known that gravity existed for a long time now. What's that got to do with Conservatives and Liberals? Another stupid question.

5)etc etc etc seems to imply that you have more examples, yet chose not to list them. This gives the illusion that you actually have more examples, however, if you did you would have used them.

Why is it that if someone disagrees with you they are lying if they can't offer immediate proof of their stance? You have offered no proof what so ever to back up your claims so you are as much a liar as everyone who disagrees with you. This is a very typical liberal ploy. Assume science is settled when it's not and claim anyone who disagrees is an know-nothing liar.
Al Gore's "Inconvenient Truth" is proof of nothing. It is full of half truths, as is most of Michael Moore's work.
If you want to argue any subject well, know and understand BOTH sides of the argument, otherwise you sound like the idiots on both sides.

I'm not allergic to science in anyway shape or form. I don't believe in Evolution because I believe in God. Secondly they have been trying to prove that crap for years and can't do it. I don't have an opinion on Global Warming yet because I don't think all the facts are in. If global warming is true. Both Conservatives and Liberals are guilty of causing it. What does gravity have to do with anything? As for stem cells, there is no proof whatsoever that infant stem cells have helped anyone. Now on the other hand, adult stem cells have.
