I was under the impression that this was YA for the UK and Ireland, why all the answers about the US?
Drains are not necessarily broken when the overflow, house get built on flood plains, and people concrete over their gardens. Water has to go somewhere and will find the easiest route.

Funny, I was under the impression that a government was responsible for protecting its citizens and ADULTS were responsible to take care of themselves.
I see your point though, we should adopt a nanny state and have big brother make sure you find a job and motivates you to go to school and other things that some may chalk up to personal accountability.
I would love to elaborate but I have work to do, damn government isn't taking care of me yet, this is BS.

Interesting, though, how the Dow broke the 14000 mark and unemployment is lower than any average decade since the 60s.
Oh well. I guess we can go back to hearing all of the spin about the terrible economy despite all of the facts.

You cant defend the nation with drainpipes!
And as Duffer says, the drains are adaquate for normal rain fall, its just the temporary monsoon and patio's etc that cant deal with it at the moment. My soakaway filled and overflowed last week. Which govt official can i blame that on?

Different governments. The city and county governments generally take care of the drains. The Feds buy the weapons.

um....the infrastructure of NY has been an issue in New York for a long long time. Just as the Levy's' in New Orleans were an issue. Don't blame the federal government what is not their responsibility.
