Even the Vatican realizes that human-caused global warming is a major threat. Why don't you?

Firestorm - take 5 seconds to do some reserach on global warming (looking at real scientific research) and you'll find a shred of evidence. Take a few minutes and you'll find a load of it.

If you're too lazy for that, just click this link and look at page 9. Or read the whole thing, if you're a little less lazy.

You know, there isn't much I can do to answer your question, other than say I respect the Church for its stand. Contrary to some of the comments, the Church does do substantial scientific research, as it also supports numerous universities. Also, it is a sovereign state with an observer mission in the United Nations.

I can also say most of the respondants love their SUVs more than they love the future for themselves and their offspring.

For God's sake! Continuing with your wasteful ways possibly damages the ecology and could be leading to global warming. Doing without your SUV or other gas guzzler does no harm.

Where the fvck is the problem? Start thinking of the environment!

Global warming is not a threat to the world. Every year scientists are stating the rapid rate at which glaciers and the Arctic Peninsula are melting, but of the 5,000+ glaciers in the world only 23 are being studied and measured annually. These glaciers are also located in locations that have been gradually warming for hundreds of years. The Arctic Peninsula, which is melting at a rapid 2 inches a year, accounts for only 2 percent of the continent, a fact that is conveniently left out of reports. The interior of the North and South poles are actually getting colder by several degrees every year and more glaciers than not are actually getting colder and thicker. If the so called global warming was even to triple its rate, it would take ten thousand years before the Arctic peninsula melted, and due to the fact that it is entirely water and floating in water, the melting would not result in the raising of the sea level because it is adjusted to the density of the peninsula and the melting would make it less dense while adding to the volume of the oceans, resulting in no rising of the water level.

I am both Catholic and Conservative but I still don't think global warming is caused by mankind. I think for myself, and the church which I belong to sometimes differs in their view from me. I did not know that the Vatican had the most knowledge on scientific issues I thought they were more into the spiritual thing. I am all for being green but the GW issue is nothing more than political grandstanding. BTW the Catholic church is also supporting illegal immigration but that doesn't make them right. Even the church and it's people can be wrong just look at things like the Inquisition.

I think Mother Earth heals herself and that neither global warming nor global cooling have nothing to do with humans.

If humans are to blame, why is their scientific evidence of global warming during both the Jurassic and Mesozoic time periods when no humans existed?

Well, I'm not a Catholic, and I can't speak for the Vatican, but the last time I checked, the Catholic church was NOT a scientific organization.

I STILL defy you who believe in human-induced global warming to come up with a single SHRED of hard evidence to support it!
