Not only do you need a HS deploma to enter Nursing school, you sometimes also need a college degree to apply to Nursing school. First, you need a HS degree to apply to college, then you can either get your basic college requirements and apply to Nursing school, or you can get a 4 year degree then apply to Nursing school. But the process to get there is very competitive. I have had a few friends that have a college degree that have trying to get into Nursing school and applied 2 or 3 times and have been rejected---mostly because the teacher to student ratio is very big and there are not enough professors for the amount of students that are applying.

Go back and get your GED, which is just as good as a HS diploma. Then, try to apply to a state college or a community college and speak with the admissions counselor there about possible options to go from there.

I wouldn't be happy to know that an RN working with my parents didn't have a high school diploma; most programs, as I understand them, are pretty heavy on math, science, and such, and I'm not sure how you would manage if you never finished high school. You certainly can take a GED, which is the equivalent of a high school diploma, and then move on to get your RN. I know there is a nursing shortage, and I applaud your desire to go on, but I would hope that they have not sacrificed standards to claim more RNs!
