Hey Enki ..
I agree with the first and third answer!
However, I think the harder point is determine if there is a better direction. Some times there is more than one right direction; a shortcut, perhaps? But, how do you know its better unless you have driven down that road before? I call to my map, my loved ones.-.-.-.-. I digress, that's a different kettle of fish! :-)
I believe I am heading in what I call the right direction, at the moment. Why? Because, I feel content with the way in which I am living. My actions are not having a negative effect on anybody! Sometimes when your caught up in your little glass box, the windows start to mist up. But, my loved ones always seem to see through it! They are proud of me, and happy with who I am. I trust them and therefore have no reason to believe I am heading in the wrong direction! x
Thank You
& Take Care!

For me there are two parts to this...

1. The choices I make should be brought about by an internal process. In order to do this you need to dive deeply into yourself and know yourself. Otherwise you will never know if the direction you are taking is a RIGHT DIRECTION.

2.Once I know myself, or am at least aware of what this means, I need to work towards a conjunction. My thoughts, my feelings and my actions should be in conjunction or in a state of equilibrium if you will. Only then am I able to arise to the point where I find what is right for me at that point in time.

That doesn't mean I can't change my mind later. And I can still be on the right track even if I'm not happy right now.

As long as I experience the conjunction I know I'm on the right track. It's about knowing yourself on multiple levels.

I think we usually feel it in our gut if it is right or not. I think right direction does not necessarily mean we are happy and satisfied. Sometimes, we have to go through tough roads and lots of pain and challenges even in right directions. Eg. exercising even though it hurts, would be a right direction. Or, waiting for someone you truly love, though full of pain, but because you feel like it in you gut, might be the right direction for you....when you think of the possible end result. Come to think of it, which road is not full of challenges? Also, the definition of what is right can keep changing. Eg. you might take up a job today when you most need it but after working at that job for 6 months, you might start feeling you don't fit there. With more in-depth knowledge, our thoughts can change. That's my personal opinion.

Thanks for a very thought-provoking question.

If you're going in the direction you want to go, that's right enough. So enjoy. There may be better ways and you may stumble upon them - whatever, enjoy the process. And if you don't, persist only as much as it's worth - then find another way. That my sentiments. But I know it's not always practical to jump ship - especially in deep water. On the other hand, there's always eventually a shore ..... and you never know what new wonders you may find there, or all the new tricks you may learn. So when you begin doing things three times, consider jumping!

By listening very carefully to the voice inside you that would ask such a question. It a voice that is often drowned out by what we think we should be doing, or ought to do. It is often nothing more than a whisper, subserviant to many other forces that would glady direct your life for their own purposes. But not necessarily geared to help you actualize your talents and skills and express who you uniquely are.

It often needs to be cultivated, taken seriously and encourage to find expression regradless of your state of being: happy or sad, fulfilled or striving, rich or poor... It is only responsible to one person- one master.

You will know your heading in the right direction when that voice no longer speaks to you, but instead, starts singing.

Maybe it was a typo, but you can't head ON the right direction---you can only head in the right direction grammatically.

I know it by my relationship with God and as I follow his Word, the Bible (Written), His Son (the living Savior and King).

Most people know when they are heading in the right direction. There is inbuilt GPS in our mind called conscience. Whether to follow the direction or not, still lies in your hands.
