They eat a little of everything - some shrimp, fish, bloodworms, vegetable matter - you can buy some commercially made pellets for them as well - you can find these in the reptile department of most pet stores.

The tank should be part land and part water - how much is up to you - plus something they can use to climb up onto the land. The land should have some sand or coconut fiber (sold as EcoEarth, Bed-A-Beast, or herit crab soil) for them to dig into. A simple way of doing this is to use a plastic show box on one end of the tank and make a ramp with stones or a piece of driftwood. A hiding spot (a half coconut shell with an opening, a rock "cave", a plastic reptile den, a 1/2 log, etc.) should be on the dry side as well.

You should also have a small aquarium heater and a glass cover, or a screen top and a reptile-type reflector lamp to keep the water warm and to keep the crab in the tank. They also need to have sea salt in their water (2 tablespoons per gallon).

Just put some food into a shallow container (jar lid, sea shell) or aon a flat rock and replace as the food is eaten.

They can live up to two years.

The body will be about 2" across, with the legs, about 4".
