Okay so I posted a bulletin on myspace today talking about how ridiculous Bush's speech today regarding Iraq was. I got the following response:

"wtf are u talking about....hes the GREATEST president we have ever had...you should really think twice about posting bulletins about the war because its a VERY touchy subject to some people and your probably going to offend half of the people on your friends list just by saying **** like what you said....and i am offended bc i have family and my boyfriend and best friend over there."

Well then. So many things that I want to say are rushing through my head right now. I was wondering if anyone had any advice as to how I should go about responding to this.

hahah um, as a response to 'the real america', I am perfectly capable of formulating my own response, my postition on the subject is very clear and I have tons of knowledge and facts to back up whatever I plan to say in my response. I was just curious as to how other people feel about the matter. Whatever people say on here, what I choose to say in my response will stay the same.

sure. easy.

thus far, every reason given for invading iraq has either been a gross deception or an outright lie.

iraq had nothing to do with the 9/11 attacks, in spite of repeated attempts at linking the two over and over again.

the truth is that the kingdom of saudi arabia has been directly linked to both the funding and organization of the 9/11 attacks and not a word has ever been said to them.

in spite of who ever happens to be over there and who's friends they are, it doesn't make right the fact that the power of our military is currently being used to pursue the agenda of a single individual directly against the expressed wishes of the american people (as expressed in the last election).

don't be sorry or say you are sorry - because technically (or at least according to the bush admin) those guys are over there fighting for us and our rights.

one of those rights is freedom of speech.

period.

Well a couple of things. Number one is that no matter what, SOMEONE will be offended. In cases where the offendee knows someone in Iraq, make it clear you are not attacking them, you are attacking the people who sent them there. You may or may not be able to get through to them on that point. We live in irrational times and irrational, stoic, arguments are all we seem to have when it comes to the Bush Admin and Iraq. It is sad really sad, when dissent equals treason in the eyes of some. That is not something you or I can change.

There is however, one thing you can do. Iraq was a sold to us as a threat and an immediate danger. The reason isn't, as we now know, what is appears to be, it's much more sinister. Have you ever heard of PNAC, the Project for a New American Century? This is an ultra conservative think tank which includes most of the high level Bush functionaries. Would you like to know why we are really in Iraq? Google PNAC and "new pearl harbor". What you will find will anger you and frighten you. But I promise you it's nothing any Bush lover can deny exists or casually dismiss.

look inside your heart. it has come the time to make a stand. think it's a touchy subject on myspace? man, it is really touchy in iraq; estimated that a million iraqis have died. for what? the neo conservative new world order?

you need to decide what's more important, the truth, or offending the delusional.

What is the matter, can you not articulate a response without the assistance of liberal operatives? If you post a bulletin on a topic that is as heavily debated as Iraq, you are going to hear from both sides. If you can't back up you position - then you need to reevaluate.

People acting offended - is the simplest way for them - to avoid discussion.

So I really wouldn't care.

Christians who come to your door - try this on a lot btw.
