1986 ny mets. down 3 games to 2 in game 6. red sox up several runs, bottom nine. mets stage huge comeback capped by mookie wilson's slow grounder to first that buckner boots allowing ray knight to score game winner. mets go on to win game 7 and the series.
the '60 pirates are better for dramatics as someone else mentioned. but i think '86 mets are right up there.

1960 Pirates. The Yankees utterly spanked them in three games, while the Pirates squeaked by in the other three, so it all came down to Game 7. And it went both ways, with a very unlikely 3-run homer by backup catcher Hal Smith to bring the Bucs back into the game, and then the crowning touch, whifflebat shortstop Bill Mazeroski ending it with a big fly leading off the bottom of the ninth.
The ending is what people recall and what gets mentioned the most, but there were a lot of unlikely events that put the game where it was when Maz went deep. That was a mighty Yankees team, and yet, the Pirates overturned them. Wow.

1960 when my Yankees lost to the Pirates on Mazeroski's walk off home run in the 7th game....the Yankees would win by a thousand runs....the Pirates came back and win the next one by 1 or 2....then the Yankees would do it again but back they came winning by 1 or 2....all seven games were like that.....the Yankees probably outscored the Pirates some thing like 5 to 1....the one game that Mickey Mantle ever remembers crying....I was there crying with him.....what a "heart wrenching" feeling to watch Yogi go back and then turn away when the ball went over the left field fence......my "biggest" heart break as a fan of the Yankees....bigger then the Red Sox coming back....I predicted that one and saw it coming....but not this one!!......that was proclaimed the greatest 7 game ever by ESPN......excuse me while I get a tissue and wipe the tear.....it still hurts!!!

Hands down the Boston Red Sox going down 3 games to 0 against the Yankees and then coming back to win 4 straight to advance to the world series where the swept the St. Louis Cardinals.

Probably in '06 when the Tigers were supposed to win it in three games, but they lost it in five, but I guess that's not really a comeback...
