This is a cultural question, not a racial one. I find that when I deal with Indians they are always believing they are being fooled no matter how low the price of something is. Is it just me or is this something common in India (being scammed) so when they come here they really have their guard up?

You can't fool an Indian as far as the 'value for money 'is concerned. They never bargain or haggle over prices in fixed price shops or such outlets.Low price does not always mean the right price, though you may think otherwise.Yes,bargaining and haggling is rampant in Indian markets, where it is allowed. So,don't feel bad or generalize it as national trait.

I personally don't think I'm being fooled with price, but I am a stingy *****.

EDIT: I don't actually live in India.
But when you buy things in India, you try to haggle as much as possible. My gramps has yet to accept that you SIMPLY CANNOT try to negotiate price in large department stores.
