All you would see on the myspace pages would be pro-war and pro-Bush statements, right?

Could it possibly be true that the troops are just as frustrated with this endles, unwinnable war as the majority of the American public, and the whole "support Bush and that means you support our troops" is just an attempt to further use our own troops as an easy way to push the Bush agenda?

You can't tell me that secret information is being passed from Joe Schmo private E-2 to terrorists through myspace either, so don't even bother to insult your own intellect by saying anything along those lines.

Cencoredbyevil has a point, posting pics would distinguish American soldiers from the Iraqi soldiers, and common civilians, since their uniforms are all the same. Get a clue.

For the same reason that soldier's mail was censored during World War II or during the Civil War when Union troops complained bitterly about Grant's campaign against Lee in the Spring and Summer of 1864.

The government doesn't want any dissenting opinions. They want you to believe that the soldiers are 100% behind this fools errand in Iraq and of course that they are all conservative Republicans wearing the uniform.

We live in dark times.

I have no idea how you without military training or experience could come the the conclusion that led to this statement: "You can't tell me that secret information is being passed from Joe Schmo private E-2 to terrorists through myspace either, so don't even bother to insult your own intellect by saying anything along those lines."

While "Schmo private E-2" as you so inelegantly put it may not hold the entire war plans, it is more often a bunch of little bits of intelligence instead of some huge piece that can sink a mission. The DOD banned MySpace specifically for this reason as information was discovered on MySpace that did compromise missions.

As I learned in the Navy "Loose lips sink ships"

For the same reason Bush is enacting so many executive orders to control the growing masses of war dissenters in this country and yes even in Iraq.
It's Bush and Cheneys own personal gag order.

Isoamlfascist terrorists would use pictures posted to identify friends and family of soldiers and target them. Surely you don't want your friends to have their heads chopped off because you were a soldier...
Are you sure that wasn't Airhead Infantry you were in?

I look at this from a corporate perspective. Many large companies ban access to myspace.

The reason? It's addictive, distractionary and is prone to having to many things downloaded.

Can you blame the military for doing the same?

It is about the techonology not politics.
Myspace sucks up a lot of the ban width so it bogs down the military internet.
