Orange lillies are naturalized in my area, I'm thinking of digging up about 100 bulbs, and planting them all over my yard so they can take over. But, I don't want to transplant them if they only bloom for like 3 weeks then die. If you don't know what kind of lily i'm talking about, there is a pic here. http://www.flickr.com/photos/manojgovindan/374719280/ How long do they bloom? What months do they bloom? Oh and I live in ontario, zone 5.

The plant will bloom most of the summer. If you have a lot of plants there will always be blooms even though individual flowers fade in a day or so.

You need to put them in clumps for best effect. Unless your yard is small then 100 won't do much covering.

They are worth the effort for even a few clumps since they grow with very little care needed.

The orange older varieties bloom all summer long.
This sites say they bloom from May to August:

Here it says the original orange daylily blooms to midseason:

It helps to deadhead to entend the bloom season . Your blooms may get sparce when you transplant them now, because all their energy will go into establishing themselves. But they will reward you next year & years to come. So go ahead & transplant them now. Try to keep a lot of soil around their roots by watering them well the day before you transplant, if you transplant them now. If you wait to transplant them in the fall, then you can plant them 'bare-rooted' without worrying about keeping the old soil intact with the roots.

Good luck! Hope this helped.

If you had a lot they would be in bloom for a few weeks but each flower only lasts for a few days.
