just a thought as someone said that the seagulls wont go near the bags if something red is put on top of them. we have big problems with seagulls. may work for cats, dogs and foxes too.

The black plastic is the cheapest to make because it can contain reprocessed scraps of any other color. It also is most resistant to UV rays from sunshine cracking it.

The reason is that the more dense the plastic the stronger it will be, to make a bag white would mean bleaching or colouring. Pedal bin liners are usually thinner and some even transparent.
