when i was in school alot of black americans would tease the africans calling them african booty scratcher and tease some of them about their complexion i just find it funny and ignorance.

The socialization process of hundreds of years of slavery, would impact African-American's in many ways and one is skin-color. The terms dark and black in the English language is filled with negativity. I believe people are unconsciously taught that dark skin is not desireable. My great-grandmother, the daughter of a slave, would call me(black/german) and my cousin(jewish/black, "pure gold" and not my other cousin, who has a dark brown complexion. People are subliminally, taught these things, which is sad.

I am a black American woman and I don't get it. It is ignorant what young adolescents of color do to one another. Why do our black men put the "black wemon" down by calling them bi. . . . s and hoes. Why do black wemon put each other down instead of lending a helping, I don't know but that's just how it is. Black Africans and Black Americans are very different in looks and culture. People generally hate what they cannot understand.

Ok I'm African American, and I noticed that too. I've never teased them, and none the AM girls I've seen teased them, just the guys.
I love my people, I wouldnt tease them b/c their skin is darker than mine.

Actually, in my personal experience, and for the most part, blacks I have met and that are actually from Africa, I have found to be much more educated, well mannered, disciplined, and hard working. Maybe, it's jealousy and more misplaced anger?

it's sad!! i would be teased for being Haitian!!! it's not funny at all!!! when they would tease me i would be confused because i didnt know these kids nor did anything to them!
