LR 90 station wagon. Easiest to get repairs and parts in a hurry, and won't get stuck on a steep hump like the 110 (I've done that) with wheels in the air both sides. Lots of LR enthusiastic garages to help you out. Also doesn't lose value with a few dents in. I am presuming you do mean to use it offroad? otherwise get a Ford Escort.

Duh! Use one that's built there. The Land Rover! Then again, there are a lot of other good 4x4's too. I'm just partial :) What about the Discovery?
The first five will take you pretty much anywhere. But I'd guess availability is an issue with #'s 1 and 2. #6 is really a vehicle WITH 4 wheel drive capability. #7 ha! Stick to fire roads.

Any Land Rover Defender! No question. Especially a short wheel-base because they're less likely to ground out on lumpy terrain. They are designed for the weather, parts are readily available and are as reliable as all hell!

I have an "X" type Jaguar sovereign with a 3 litre engine.
I really enjoy driving it which is the most important criterion to me.
It has the speed, the comfort and the safety features needed.
It is left-hand drive, has an excellent sound system and a superb satellite-navigation system.
