Just curious whether you're fixated on this series of books or you've actually read some other books (for comparison)?

sorry but "The devil wears Prada" and "DaVinci code" cannot be considered "the best." Are u kidding? Have u read Tolstoi, Zola, Hemingway? Have u even tried?

ahahah, b/c I read real books, I am a snob? No hon, I am just a normal person, reading normal books...And DaVinci code was just another cheap, commercial boy-flick designed to milk the cow!

Thousands. I'm 60 years old. Among my favorite authors are Arthur C. Clarke, Robert Heinlein, Isaac Asimov, H.G. Wells, Jules Verne (all for science fiction); Louisa May Alcott, Frances Hodgson Burnett, Lewis Carroll, Lucy Maud Montgomery, and Mark Twain (all for stories nominally for children); Jane Austen, the Bronte sisters, Charles Dickens, Arthur Conan Doyle, Thomas Hardy, Robert Lewis Stevenson.
And those are just the ones sitting on the shelves of my computer room where I can see them without getting up.
Do remember that not all Harry Potter fans are children, and that children who learned to enjoy reading because of Potter mostly go on to read other good stuff. Lots of other good stuff out there, as well as a lot of junk. I will be happy to make recommendations to anyone who wants them.

Have you tried? Geez you really are a spoil sport. Why so much hatred towards Harry? Perhaps you were expelled from Hogwarts... Reading is a way to expand the mind and vocabulary and exercise the brain no matter what you read.
You are quite the book snob, aren't you? The Davinci code was an incredible, imaginative book mixed with love, adventure and passion.
Yes, big snob...

I've read tons of other books, some of the best: To Kill a Mocking Bird, Fall on Your Knees, The Da Vinci Code, Pride and Prejudice (or anything Jane Austin), The Bad Behavior of Bell Cantrell, The Devil Wears Prada, The Glass Castle...

I was addicted to Star Wars books (no, I'm not a trekkie - hate it!) no too long ago, and I read a ton of Baby Sitters' Club between the ages of 10 and 13. The Dune series is fantastic, but then I got into the Jane Austen books, i.e. Pride & Prejudice, Emma, Sense & Sensibility, etc. I've recently been reading a lot of P.G. Wodehouse, an English comic writer, and a great series about an English gentleman and his valet; very comical! I've also been reading a lot of romance and mystery/suspense. Yes, I've read almost every genre.

I've never read the Potter books, but I find the movies adequete. I have read the Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit. For a more recently written fantasy series, I highly reccommend the Coldfire Trilogy by C.S. Freidman. It is good that people are reading again.

I've read thousands of books, many of them series's. I enjoy the Harry Potter series as much if not more than a lot of others. I've been reading for 50 years.
The HP series has inspired my boys to once again pick up books for enjoyment. I thank J.K. Rowling for this.

I've read loads of other books, I love the Noughts and crosses series by Malorie Blackman, it's my favourite book series much as I like harry potter. I've also read a lot of girly Meg Cabot books and also The Spook's Apprentice series to name but a few.

Right now, I'm reading the Sorcerer's Stone (newcomer to HP), but I finished up Daniel Kalla's "Blood Lies" not too long ago (excellent thriller), and I whipped through "Swordbird" by Nancy Yi Fan in a few days (cute, kiddish tale, but extremely predictable).
