Because people take a good thing too far. But you should know, that the US is the most developed country on earth.
Yes, there are a few areas where things are a little archaic, but you have that in any culture.

When you have people of every culture put together, you are bound to have some problems. The real issue is that many of the problems are tolerated by the rest of society and thus you have the issues you described.

I believe you will. But I think the fact you are the one "true super-power" (if I had a penny for every time I heard that) has gone to your heads a bit. With power comes responsibility and I think the US has let themselves down here. You also need to look at news beyond your borders. There is a whole world out there but as one American told me "Our country is so big we don't need or want to look at foreign news". Fair enough. Then stop meddling in foreign affairs if that is the attitude. Also your history knowledge is woeful. You all need to read more history. Hollywood is wrong 90% of the time. Trust me on this.

i'm with you-the untied states needs to change to truly become the most evolved and developed country in the world. Several other countries have such better schools and health care systems that untied states citizens will go abroad than see a doctor here. But there are some things that are good here too.

Good question as far as it goes.

I'd add abortion to your list (at the risk of being taken down and getting another warning). Well, maybe it is covered in that "absolutism" applies to both sides in the abortion debate. Many pro-choice folks think there is an absolute right to kill an unborn baby with no obligation to look for nonlethal ways to terminate unwanted pregnancies so that both the mother and child can have a chance to live their potential lives. Many pro-life folks insist a woman carry an unwanted child for 9 months and would oppose development of nonlethal pregnancy termination technology even if it would result in less killing of the unborn.

In the case of late term abortions or forcing women to endure unwanted pregnancies for full term, "torture" might also apply.

So, maybe you do have it covered, but I wanted to point it out.

I can tell you have never been outside the USA, if you had you would know that we are religiously open, now one is killed for different beliefs. Anyone can have any job, in Europe, Africans can't work out front. Putting down a murder, rapist or child molester, is not a bad thing. Most countries don't even have 'civil rights'.

Because like so many of the other posters...too many good Americans just look the other way and pat themselves on the back...and tell themselves America is so great.

It was once and can be again...but we need to get out the very moral compass so many Americans pretend to follow and actually use it.
