First off this is not Bush's war, but rather America's war. The war has not failed yet...it is still being fought. If the war is going to fail it will be like Vietnam and fail because people back home lose their resolve, and pullout or don't allow our military to use necessary force. I did serve the country for 10.5 years and was part of the Navy in Desert Storm. I think that if you want to know how the war is going you should turn off the TV and talk to the people who are fighting it because from my military experience I have found that the TV news is skewed. War is not pleasant, but it is what freed this country, and has kept it free for over 200 years.
Joe M. when a person signs up for the military they know that they can be sent to war by the government, and that is a price they feel they are willing to pay. Our troops are there because they chose to do what the president thinks is necessary. God bless the men and women who protect our way of life even when the people they protect don't seam to think they are smart enough to understand how their job can put them in harms way.
Equalizer you don't know this I bet but the truth is that based on percentages our crooked politicians kids join the service more than the rest of the population. I am sure they are officers more than they are enlisted but they still serve.

I agree with most of the answers ya all ready got. accept for a few like noesbleeder, oh i mean nonemzedder.
why don't ya try talking to some of the men and women that have been there. and not just a few hand picked ones that ya know share the same thoughts as you.
most of them will tell you,
no I don't like the long deployments,
no I don't like getting my a-- shot at,
no I don't like watching mt buddies dying.
and most of them will tell ya they do beleve in the cause they are fighting for. all though they might think we are going about it the wrong way.
oh you will git a few that just joined up for a free education, but their recruter forgot to tell them they might have to fight for it, oh boo hoo poor baby.
P.S.
Go a head and give Joevette his 10 points man. I don't think you will get a better answer or one with more truth, that is if the truth is what ya looking for.

Bush supporters are the best arm chair warriors around. America is worth fighting for, but this war is causing more problems that it's creating. I don't join because I don't believe in this war and I'm not going to die for this President. I have friends who have been in the military since before the war began and they are against the war as well. They've seen the destrcution first hand and watched their friends die.
Many of our soldiers are turning against the Republican Party. I guess I can thank Bush for pushing more over to the liberal side.

I AGREED WITH PEOPLE LIKE JOE M. Especially the last part regarding the pushers of this war. Let me fight side by side with our governments kids. Let me protect my country with Bush's , Cheney's , Condaleeza's, Rummies and any other spoiled rich kid's. That way I least I know it will be a just war and not JUST a war for getting richer.

You are just looking to get us upset. But the fact remains that the overall majority of the military does vote Republican and they come from mostly middle to upper middle class family and are more educated than the same civilian age group. What have you done for your country lately?

6 years since the Trade Towers Fell, how's that new building/memorial coming along?!? yet, liberals expect a war to be won, and a country to be rebuilt . . . that's right, they don't want us to win, and they do want us to just abandon the Iraqi people (again).

I don't see that you joined. A quarter of my family has fought in Iraq and they support Bush. My cousin is breaking down doors in Baghdad and has gotten fired at by a RPG several times, once hitting his convoy, and he still supports the war and George Bush. If you fought in Iraq and you are not just sitting at your house and bashing Republicans because you don't like them, I would respect you opinion, but your question seems like a meaningless and foolish rant.
And, 90% of soldiers still vote Republican, and has been proven to be true. Democrats sit on the sidelines and bash the troops when less than 10% are Democrats.

I watched a hilarious video of a guy infiltrating a college republican meeting and asking them why they aren't enlisting.
They were all like 'uh... i've thought about it, but.. but...'
Oh, and it's not whether or not you are in the military that decides whether or not you can have an opinion on the war.
It's just hypocritical to 'support' a war, and refuse to fight in it if you are physically capable. The same as it is hypocritical to send other peoples children to fight in a war, while your own stay at home.

We do not need more troops to win the war, we need to change the rules of engagement.

If I did not have obligations that require my attention, namely young children, I would have already enlisted. I am a single parent who has children under the age of 16.
Who would take care of them if I enlisted? Oh yea, Hillary.
No thanks. I want my kids to grow up as American patriots.
