Would you/do you dress your kids in 2nd hand clothing?
i mentioned to a friend that my mom used to get us clothing at goodwill and yard sales even tho we had money for store bought things. we wore from all 3 really i explained.
she was floored and flipped that kids should never wear 2nd hand things.
there is nothing wrong in my eyes. most things kids wear is grown out of so fast they wear it only a few times.
i don't see a reason to pay $10-20 a shirt and $20 for pants for an infant/toddler/child to wear a few times when you can get 2nd near new things for pennies on the dollar.

i got over 40 pcs of clothing for a 2t girl on ebay for $50 total w/shipping and her mom spent $300 for clothing for her bday!

what makes ppl pay outrageous prices for clothing when you can get tons for cheap going 2nd hand... (you can just get specific things from store to "fill in" what you don't get 2nd hand)

is your friend kidding? Of COURSE 2nd hand clothing is awesome! You are right in that most kids don't even wear it but a couple times. I get most of my child's clothing at consignment shops. My hubby makes good money so we can afford retail prices, but why pay them? They are rediculous! I love consignment shops and thrift stores! Don't ever feel bad for going there. You can get name brand stuff and even not name brand things for like 1 tenth the retail price! It's the best way to go! Props to you! Don't let anyone put you down for it. Just know there are millions of us bargain shoppers out there! :o)

As long as the cloths are in good shape there is absolutely no reason your kids shouldnt wear second hand clothing. We should teach our children to respect the environment and not be wasteful. I also dont have a problem with adults wearing used clothing that is in good shape. Why should we waste money on new things when something just as good is sitting there waiting to be used. Just because someone else couldnt use it is no reason to throw it away. Some people just have more money than sense I guess.

i agree that 2nd hand clothing for children who are growing is a good idea. my parents had money when i was little but we still got some of my clothes at a second hand shop. i dont recomend getting the clothing off of ebay though because you really dont know what kind of condition it is in till oyu get it. for example: it could smell like smoke which isnt good for a small child to breath. do whatever you feel is right and with that extra cash from her grandmother you could get her some new things as well.

Nothing wrong with second hand. I come from a large family -- most of what I wore was passed down from the two sisters older than me.

It's just play clothes. Not a big deal. You are smart and practical! With all the money you save, you'll be able to afford college for your kids!

There is nothing wrong with it at all. I know people who buy stuff and the kids only wear it once or twice. As Long and the clothes are in good condition it is a great idea and plus its a money saver

Personally I see no harm in it.Actually to me it is very practical because children do out grow their clothes so quickly as you said. Saving money gives you opportunity to spend it on some articles that you may want new or some other special item.
Toddlers don't even know what they are wearing so as long as the clothes are neat and clean do what you feel is right and comfortable for you.

the way kids grow, they out grow the clothes before they wear out. There's nothing wrong with 2nd hand clothes..
My parents did the same, I always got my cousins hand me downs.
