I'm wearing my Beckham jersey today at work. Does that tell you I'm excited? It just arrived in the mail yesterday. I hope they don't force him to play against Chelsea if his ankle isn't well yet. Anyway, I have tickets for his away game against DC United. I will need binoculars because I just bought them a couple of weeks ago and so my seat is quite far from the pitch but I'm going anyway.
I think he's already making a huge impact. There are soccer fans in the US who watch EPL, La Liga, Serie A and other foreign leagues but they don't watch MLS (like me). Beckham will turn a lot of these soccer fans into MLS fans. He will also encourage other European players to consider moving to MLS in the future, now that MLS is getting more worldwide exposure.
Welcome to America, David Beckham.

I am excited cause now I can see a good and famous player in a stadium instead of a tv. As far as him having an impact he has to win or at least play well to get more people to watch and to build awarness of the sport. I dont think he'll do anything for the MLS if he plays terrrible or doesnt score many goals cause thats all people want to see which is to see him score and play well. He has proved to be good outside of the pitch now he has to prove that hes good in the field and have the Galaxy win some games. He'll get noticed if he can turn the Galaxy around and take them to the playoffs.

Even though soccer was the very first sport I played, I still think soccer has long shot to compete with the other sports. I don't think is a matter of interest but a matter of influence. Maybe some people care and some people don't. Literally, the only thing I'm waiting for is football. As long as my Bears compete, I could care less(and the Cubs suck by the way).
But will it have a huge impact??? I really don't think so. Unless you're talking about Beckham's wife!!!!!!

You may be dreaming dude.....Beckham is a media and
marketing hype. When Pele (world's greatest) could not
make any dent in US Soccer, why do you think Beckham can
do it.
There are many better players in the world who can do better
than Beckham on set plays or as a midfielder, but they do not
get the credit. I am not saying Beckham is bad, he is a good
player but he can change Galaxy to an extent and MLS will
have some impact, but it will NOT excite me.
Will I watch him play, yes I will....I have been watching the game since my childhood and I will never fail to watch the game either on TV or on field.

Nope. Americans don't care about soccer the way they care about baseball, football, and basketball, and therefore the sport does not draw as much advertising, which means it will not get enough exposure.
It's sad, because it really is the greatest sport in the world, but even a star like Beckham can't save it here...hell, I bet if you polled 100 Americans of all ages, 50 of them couldn't tell you who Beckham was, and maybe 10 could tell you what teams he's played for.

We'll see I guess. If he can make an impact that's great. I see it more as a start. It realistically will take more than one good player - you know?
Not only do we need more players from Europe we need more coaches from there as well.
Sorry but I've played soccer here in America my whole life and most coaches don't known much about the sport at all.
Really we should focus on the coaching here in the U.S. That's the real problem. We should focus on having coaching clinics with European coaches so the knowledge can trickle down and fan out.

Nope, he is only one player on a team. Wayne Gretzky was a dominating hockey player (much more so than Beckham is in soccer) and without a good supporting cast he won no Stanley cups after he left Edmonton. Beckham will draw more people to the games but his impact will not be that great on the field.

No, I'm excited to. The product MLS give is good. And it's getting better. I saw the MLS vs Celtic last night. It was a great match.
Can't wait for Beckham to play and show what he can do.

nope, because personally i just dont like beckham. If Kaka, Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Robinho, Eto'o, Henry, or Rooney was coming, rhen i would be really excited. Why, because they are younger and more exciting. They pretty much ran Beckham out of Eurpoe. He will be good for the MLS, i just personally am not a big fan of him.

I am not excited just because I been following Futbol for many years and have watched him play for Manchester United...and Real Madrid.
I do hope he can turn around the Galaxy...just for the sake of the sport in this country.....Galaxy needs to make the playoffs if you want any success of an audience.....
