It means Fear, Uncertainty, Doubt in marketing strategy. Can also mean F***ing Utterly Dumb too.

It's an acronym for "fear, uncertainity, and doubt," in spite of what the thumbs-down troll would have you believe. If somone is accused of "spreading FUD," it means that they're just pushing people's panic buttons for no reason.

"F**king Utterly Dumb" is a new one on me, but I like it. :-)

EDIT - adding more: It's not the surname of Elmer from the Bugs Bunny cartoons. That would be "Fudd" with *two* Ds at the end.
