We are planning a vacation to San Antonio, TX and I have rented this house for a weekend. The address is 4101 McInnis Road, San Antonio TX 78222. I just want to make sure that this is in a safe neighborhood. Anyone from San Antonio please let me know. I really appreciate it.

Thanks.

This is located in the South eastern part of the city, It is a very short run from there to both I-410 and I-10. This will make it convenient for you to go almost anywhere in the city. Unfortunately this isn't considered one of the better neighborhoods. I won't go so far as to tell you that your life is in peril, being there as most of the killings that we have here are related to Passion, drugs, and family problems. I am not familiar with the house so I don't know where it is located in relation to a drug house or some thing like that, but unlike some I would spend my week end there and the next time I would look for a place on the far west, north west, far north, far east. Did you notice some thing about what I just wrote? The key word is FAR that means out side the loop (I-410) most places are pretty safe. Where you have rented it is just inside the loop and I think that you should be alright.

Note; Janice has said that the PD can tell you about sex offenders, she is right but that same information ia available on line, and there is no part of San Antonio that doesn't have these creeps, but I could have said that about almost any city or even town in the USA Janice gets a thumbs up from me

The house is in the Rigsby Area and is unfortunately considered by most to be a higher crime/less desireable neighborhood. San Antonio, for the most part, is a safe and friendly city, but it is a large city and therefore has some areas that are better avoided. There are safe areas all around the city and nice areas scattered everywhere. There are some beautiful and historic home and wonderful areas inside Loop 410, but that would have to be considered the inner city and there are more run down areas inside the loop as well. As others have said, the areas north of Loop 410, and more so the areas between 281 and I 10 would be good bets for a nice place to stay. Check the areas out on Mapquest if you are offered addresses. Even better contact the Convention and Visitors office in San Antonio for advice.

Anywhere within 410 north of downtown can be very segmented, lots of times switching from upper class to lower class neighborhoods. Best judge is to look up property value on www.bcad.org. A nearby street had a mobile home appraised at 50k. Though just a little below there are some nice big houses. You can check out sanantonio.gov/sapd to look at the crime maps. Usually you can tell from the crime maps if there is a pattern of car break-ins.

It's not considered the best. If you would like to be close, go up to Foster Rd. and I10 from the city and take a left. There are a lot of new subdivisions there and several new schools. Many are unaware how nice this area is and although every area has problems. This is an up and coming NE area of town. It is the farthest NE of the Judson District.

I agree with everyone else, watch out for East side. But, if you had to stay on the East side the area around Southcross isn't that bad. Just don't do anything stupid like take a nice night time stroll around the block. Next time, look for something on the North side.

My aunt lives out there off of Roland Ave on Family Tree. The street you mentioned is pretty close to Rigsby, which is filled with crime, and bad apartments. Just watch out if you're driving on Rigsby at night, lock your doors and windows. You'll be safe. Next time though I'd look on the north side of town outside Loop 410, anywhere near I-10 and Medical up to DeZavala is nice. I just wouldn't go anywhere near:
-The South Side
-West Side
-East Side
These are the worst parts of San Antonio.
It's really changed for the worse around the 410 Bandera area and west. Just stay on the NW side near I-10 outside 410 and you'll be fine.

check out http://www.hubbuzz.com. It's an apartment search site but it gives great descriptions of neighborhoods and what they're know/notorious for. Also, there is a blog section so people post things about their neighborhood.
